As part of strengthening its academic and STEM education programmes, FK International Schools is seeking to recruit a qualified and passionate professional for the position of ICT Teacher based in Dar es Salaam.
The ICT Teacher will be responsible for leading the Computing Department and delivering high-quality Cambridge Primary Computing lessons for Years 1–6. The role also includes coordinating robotics and STEM club activities aimed at enhancing learners’ digital literacy, computational thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Leading the Computing Department and overseeing the quality, coherence, and progression of computing education across all year groups.
- Planning and delivering Cambridge Primary Computing lessons for Years 3–6.
- Teaching key computing concepts including computational thinking, programming, networking, robotics, digital citizenship, and data literacy.
- Conducting ongoing learner assessments and providing constructive feedback to support academic progress.
- Leading robotics and STEM club activities for Years 3–6 using project-based and hands-on learning approaches.
- Facilitating practical sessions involving electronics, sensors, and programming using platforms such as Arduino, LEGO Mindstorms, and mBot.
- Preparing learners for external robotics, STEM, and computing competitions.
- Managing computing equipment, robotics kits, and other digital learning resources within the school.
- Supporting the integration of technology and innovation within the broader school community.
- Promoting safe and responsible use of digital technologies among students.
Qualification and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology with ICT/Computing specialization, or a closely related STEM field from a recognized institution.
- A recognized teaching qualification such as PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent national teaching certification.
- A minimum of two (2) years of classroom teaching experience in Computing or ICT at primary or lower secondary school level.
- Strong understanding of Cambridge Primary Computing curriculum and modern teaching methodologies.
- Experience in robotics, coding, STEM activities, or project-based learning will be an added advantage.
- Good classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic academic environment.
