Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration – 1 Position
Job Location: Zanzibar, Tanzania
The Council of Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University seeks to appoint a Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration who will serve as the principal assistant to the Vice-Chancellor in all matters related to administration, financial management, planning, and asset management. The position holder will also act as Vice-Chancellor in the absence of both the Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic, Research and Consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing sound financial and administrative policies to support the University’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives. The role involves oversight of financial administration, strategic planning, budgeting, and compliance with national higher education financial and legal frameworks.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must be a Professor or Associate Professor from a recognized university with an earned PhD in a relevant discipline. A minimum of five years’ proven experience in management, leadership, and administration is required, with at least three years served at senior level in a reputable institution. Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of financial management, resource mobilization, strategic planning, budgeting, policy formulation, and implementation within higher education, as well as excellent communication, negotiation, and people management skills.
Internal Auditor – 1 Position
Job Location: Zanzibar, Tanzania
Summary
The Internal Auditor will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, financial records, and compliance with applicable regulations. The role focuses on risk management, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement of internal processes.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold full professional qualifications such as CPA (T), ACCA, or ACA, with at least three years of working experience in a similar position within a reputable organization.
University Bursar – 1 Position
Reports to: Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration
Job Location: Zanzibar, Tanzania
Summary
SUMAIT seeks an energetic, innovative, and solution-oriented University Bursar to oversee the financial administration of the University. The position is central to financial management and consultancy activities and reports to the Vice-Chancellor through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certification such as CPA (Tanzania), ACCA, or equivalent is highly desirable. A minimum of five years’ experience in financial management, preferably in higher education or the public sector, is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong skills in budgeting, financial reporting, strategic financial planning, audit management, procurement, regulatory compliance, leadership, and team management.
System Administrator – 1 Position

Summary
The System Administrator will be responsible for planning, configuring, maintaining, and securing the University’s ICT infrastructure, including servers, networks, databases, ERP and LMS systems, and backup solutions to support academic, administrative, and research operations.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution. A minimum of three years’ proven experience in systems administration, preferably in a higher education environment, is required. Professional certifications such as CCNA, MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA Server+, Security+, ITIL, RHCE, or equivalent are strongly preferred.

A Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 3.5 are required.
