Job Summary

The U.S. Mission in Tanzania is recruiting a Senior Foreign Service National Investigator to lead and supervise security investigations, serve as the primary liaison with host government security agencies, and advise the RSO and Chief of Mission on complex security matters. The role includes oversight of sensitive investigations, protection of U.S. personnel, and coordination of emergency preparedness and host-nation capacity building.

Key Duties

• Lead and supervise the FSNI Unit
• Conduct and oversee complex and sensitive investigations
• Liaise with host government law enforcement and security agencies
• Support protection of U.S. Mission personnel and visitors
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and security planning
• Provide strategic security advice to RSO and Mission leadership

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience (one option required):
• Bachelor’s degree + 5 years investigative experience, OR
• 2 years university + 7 years investigative experience, OR
• Secondary school + 8 years investigative experience

Languages
• Fluent English (reading, writing, speaking, translation)
• Fluent Kiswahili (reading, writing, speaking, translation)

Key Skills

• Advanced investigative techniques
• Strong knowledge of local laws and security structures
• Ability to manage sensitive information
• Report writing in English and Kiswahili
• Leadership, supervision, and training skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
