With the gracious help of well-wishers (RUCU friends) both domestically and internationally, the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) founded Ruaha University College (RUCO) under its Trust Deed of the Registered Trustees of Ruaha University College. RUCO has been replaced by Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU). The university’s operations are governed by the terms of the university constitution and the Catholic Church’s Ex-Corde Ecclesia Policy on Higher Education Institutions. Regardless of their religious affiliation or faith, all students are welcome at RUCU, a private, secular institution. Discrimination is prohibited on the basis of caste, color, race, gender, disability, faith or background, or religious affiliation.

Certificate Awards:

If a candidate has passed the East Africa Certificate of Education (EACE) “O” level or the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), they will be considered for admission to a certificate program.

Diploma Admissions:

A candidate who has passed the East Africa Certificate of Education (EACE) or the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) “O” level with passes in at least four approved subjects and the A level with at least three subsidiary OR one-year certificates may be eligible for admission to a diploma program.

Degree Admissions:

To get admitted to a first-degree program, you must meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Prior to take the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E.E.) or a test identical to it, a candidate must have finished FOUR authorized courses and earned a Certificate of Secondary Education (C.S.E.E.) or its equivalent.
  • The Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E.E.) requires a minimum of two principal-level passes and a total of four or more points (where A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1, and S = 0.5) in authorized topics.
  • Similar credentials, such as regular or advanced degrees or certificates that meet program requirements and have a GPA of three or higher, are accepted.

Postgraduate Diploma Awards:

A candidate must have completed the prerequisites for the award of a degree with a GPA of at least 2.0 and obtained a first degree from this school, any other accredited university, or both in order to be eligible for admission to the postgraduate diploma.

Master’s Awards:

An applicant must have a first degree from this university or any other authorized university with a GPA of at least 2.7 in order to be considered for admission to a master’s program.

PhD Awards:

To be considered for admission to the PhD program, a candidate must hold a Master’s degree from this university or any other authorized university with a GPA of 3.0 or above.

The student and their sponsor or legal guardian bear full responsibility for all fees and other financial obligations. These loans must be processed in compliance with the criteria frequently issued by the Loans Board when HESLB is the sponsor. The joining instructions will provide a detailed pricing breakdown for each course. Tuition can be paid in whole at the start of the school year or in four equal installments, one for each of the first and second semesters. Any payments made by local businesses or individuals must be done in Tanzanian Shillings (TZS).
