Overview
The United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals invites applications for a Library Internship based in Arusha, Tanzania. The internship is hosted within the Registry of the Mechanism and provides practical exposure to library services supporting international justice work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Interns will support daily library operations under supervision. Tasks include basic circulation services, cataloguing and classification of materials, assisting library users, responding to reference and research queries, compiling news summaries, supporting information management, and assisting with public relations and outreach activities. Interns may also help with administrative duties and preparations for official visits.
Qualifications
Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Preferred fields include Library or Information Science, Information Management, Communication, Journalism, Multimedia Studies, or related areas. No prior work experience is required. Computer literacy is essential, and knowledge of library systems is an advantage.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French, Kiswahili, or Kinyarwanda is an added advantage.
