Merchant Operations Manager at Skynet Communications

Skynet Communications is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Merchant Operations Manager to join its team in Dodoma. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for a results-driven professional to lead merchant operations, strengthen field execution, and drive business growth within a fast-paced fintech and telecommunications environment.

The successful candidate will oversee merchant recruitment, activation, retention, and performance while managing field teams and operational KPIs. The role requires strong leadership, analytical ability, and a hands-on approach to improving merchant productivity and delivering exceptional operational results.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all merchant operations activities across the assigned region.

  

• Supervise Team Leaders, Supervisors, and Sales/Field Teams to ensure effective execution.

• Monitor merchant recruitment, registration, activation, and ongoing performance.

  

• Set, monitor, and drive team targets to achieve business objectives.

• Analyze merchant performance and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.

  

• Monitor merchant transaction activity and ensure merchants remain active and productive.

• Develop strategies to increase merchant acquisition, activation, retention, and transaction growth.

  

• Identify operational challenges affecting merchants and field teams and implement timely solutions.

• Conduct regular field visits to monitor operations and ensure compliance with company procedures.

• Collaborate with management to develop and implement business growth initiatives.

• Track operational KPIs and provide recommendations to improve team and merchant performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Operations Management, or a related field.

• Proven experience in Merchant Operations, Sales, Field Operations, Mobile Money, Fintech, or Telecommunications.

• Strong leadership and team management skills.

• Excellent analytical and performance management abilities.

• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work in the field and travel when required.

• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and consistently achieve targets.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets is an added advantage.

• Strong understanding of merchant acquisition, activation, retention, and transaction growth.

• Demonstrated integrity, accountability, teamwork, and results-driven mindset.
