Manager – Agency Banking at KCB Bank Tanzania

KCB Bank Tanzania is looking for an experienced Manager – Agency Banking to lead the growth, governance, and operational performance of its nationwide Agency Banking business. The role is responsible for expanding the agent network, driving financial inclusion, improving customer adoption of digital financial services, and ensuring profitability while maintaining strong regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will work closely with product, technology, operations, and business teams to strengthen the Bank’s branchless banking ecosystem across Tanzania.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Agency Banking strategy to drive nationwide growth.

  • Expand the agency network to increase customer acquisition, market penetration, and revenue.

  • Drive transaction volumes, active agents, customer adoption, and profitability.

  • Identify new market opportunities and innovative agency banking solutions.

  • Develop annual business plans, budgets, and performance targets.

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and manage Super Agents and Retail Agents.

  • Establish agent segmentation, performance, retention, and incentive frameworks.

  • Build strong relationships with key agents, aggregators, and ecosystem partners.

  • Conduct competitor surveys to improve pricing, products, and customer service strategies.

  • Manage revenue performance and minimize commission leakages.

  • Oversee agency banking services including deposits, withdrawals, account opening, bill payments, collections, loan repayments, merchant payments, and digital financial services.

  • Collaborate with product, technology, and business teams to improve agent and customer adoption.

  • Maintain relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and strategic partners.

  • Ensure compliance with Bank of Tanzania regulations, AML/CFT, KYC, and internal policies.

  • Identify and mitigate operational, fraud, liquidity, reputational, and compliance risks.

  • Oversee audits, regulatory reviews, and internal control effectiveness.

  • Monitor agent liquidity, transaction volumes, service quality, and channel reliability.

  • Resolve operational issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Develop agent training, certification, coaching, and capability-building programs.

  • Use data analytics to monitor KPIs, profitability, and network performance through management dashboards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, or an equivalent field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in banking or digital financial services.

  • Proven experience in Agency Banking, Branchless Banking, Agent Network Management, Retail Banking, and Financial Inclusion.

  • Strong background in banking channel or product management, sales, business development, operations, and compliance.

  • Professional business qualifications are an added advantage.

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an added advantage.
