Job Description

Vodacom Tanzania is seeking a System Admin: M-PESA Applications Support to provide end-to-end operational support for the M-PESA core system and associated digital channels. The role focuses on maintaining system availability and performance, resolving application and user issues, supporting incidents and changes, and ensuring a reliable mobile money experience for customers.

The successful candidate will work closely with technical and business teams to maintain M-PESA applications, support Mini Apps and other digital initiatives, strengthen system security, and contribute to business continuity and service resilience. Experience with mobile money platforms, system administration, application support, and database environments will be highly valuable.

  • Manage and provide operational support for the M-PESA core system.

  • Monitor the performance and availability of M-PESA mobile applications on Android and iOS.

  • Respond to user-reported issues, application crashes, and system bugs.

  • Monitor application analytics and crash reports using Firebase or similar tools.

  • Manage incidents, problems, and system changes.

  • Coordinate incident and change-management processes with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure system issues are resolved within appropriate timelines and escalated when necessary.

  • Maintain and support M-PESA system security.

  • Apply appropriate mobile application security best practices.

  • Monitor and address security-related issues affecting applications and supporting systems.

  • Support Business Continuity Management activities for M-PESA systems.

  • Contribute to the availability and resilience of critical M-PESA services.

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of M-PESA Mini Apps.

  • Provide technical support for Mini App initiatives.

  • Provide technical support for M-PESA projects, including MPA and local projects.

  • Support M-PESA products and related digital channels.

  • Work closely with technical and business teams to ensure successful implementation and operation of M-PESA services.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.

  • Knowledge and experience with Unix and Linux operating systems, including RHEL and SUSE.

  • Knowledge and experience with Windows operating systems.

  • Experience with relational database management systems such as Oracle, GaussDB, and MySQL.

  • Knowledge of mobile security best practices.

  • Experience with Android and iOS platforms.

  • Knowledge of mobile application architecture and APIs.

  • Experience with M-PESA or another mobile money platform is highly desirable.

  • Experience in system administration and application support.

  • Experience in incident, problem, and change management.

  • Knowledge of business continuity.

  • Strong stakeholder relationship-management skills.
