Software Engineer: VoMS & USSD at Vodacom Tanzania Plc

Vodacom Tanzania Plc is looking for a talented Software Engineer: VoMS & USSD to join its technology team in Dar es Salaam. This role is responsible for supporting the development, configuration, operation, and security of VoMS and USSD platforms that power critical telecommunications and fintech services.

The successful candidate will work on software development, system support, product configuration, change management, project implementation, and security compliance while contributing to the delivery of reliable and scalable digital services.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation and engineering of VoMS and USSD systems.

  • Manage change implementation across VoMS and USSD platforms.

  • Configure and support new products and services on VoMS and USSD systems.

  • Participate in VoMS and USSD project delivery and implementation.

  • Ensure system security and regulatory compliance.

  • Provide application and operations support for production environments.

  • Support software development and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in system support and software development.

  • Good knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.

  • Strong understanding of database management systems.

  • Experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, C/C++, JavaScript, PHP, or Golang.

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, XP, LSD, or FDD.

  • Understanding of service management, change management, and project management principles.

  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Hands-on experience with APIs and integration technologies.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and modern software development environments.

  • Understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, FTP, SSH, and SMPP networking protocols.

  • Experience with version control systems and collaborative development workflows.

  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases including MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, SQL, and MongoDB.

  • Experience administering Unix/Linux and Windows Server environments.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies, GSM, fintech technologies, and AI tools is an advantage.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
