Rentokil Initial Tanzania is seeking a qualified and experienced Country Accountant to join its finance team in Dar es Salaam. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong expertise in financial reporting, tax compliance, treasury management, and statutory audits within the Tanzanian regulatory environment.
The successful candidate will oversee the company’s financial operations, ensure compliance with IFRS and Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) regulations, manage cash flow and banking relationships, and support external audits while maintaining strong internal controls across the business.
Responsibilities
The Country Accountant will be responsible for:

Managing general ledger accounts and ensuring compliance with IFRS and internal accounting policies.

Maintaining trial balances, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing processes.

Overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, credit control, cash allocations, and aging reports.

Performing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for all Tanzanian bank accounts.

Managing petty cash reconciliations and ensuring proper supporting documentation.

Reviewing and processing staff operational and travel expense claims.
-
Ensuring compliance with TRA regulations across all tax obligations.

Preparing and filing VAT returns using EFD/VFD systems.
-
Computing and filing Withholding Tax (WHT) returns.
-
Managing monthly PAYE calculations and statutory remittances.
-
Supporting NSSF, WCF, and SDL payroll deductions and filings.

Coordinating annual external audits and preparing audit schedules.
-
Responding to audit queries and supporting statutory financial statement preparation.

Facilitating TRA tax audits and reconciliations.
-
Preparing rolling cash flow forecasts and monitoring liquidity.

Managing foreign exchange exposure and banking relationships.
-
Monitoring accounts receivable collections and vendor payment cycles.

Controlling stock records, customs documentation, inventory variances, and internal controls.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should possess:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

CPA (Tanzania) qualification with active NBAA registration.

4–6 years of progressive accounting experience in multinational companies or tax/audit firms.

Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax legislation and TRA electronic systems.

Experience using ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, NetSuite, or QuickBooks.

Professional fluency in both English and Swahili.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

High integrity, professionalism, and ability to work under tight reporting deadlines.

Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

Ability to train and support colleagues while maintaining effective cross-functional collaboration.
