The Tanzania Teachers’ Union (CWT) is inviting applications from qualified Tanzanian advocates to fill four Lawyer positions. As a national trade union representing teachers across Mainland Tanzania, CWT provides legal representation, employment support, and professional advocacy for its members.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Tanzanian citizen

  • Not more than 45 years of age

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university

  • Graduated from the School of Law and admitted as an Advocate

  • Excellent written and spoken Kiswahili and English

  • Computer literacy

  • Applicants with a teaching qualification or teaching background will have an added advantage

  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

The successful candidates will:

  • Represent the Union and its members before courts and relevant dispute-resolution institutions

  • Read, interpret, and apply laws and legal documents

  • Provide legal advice to teachers and the Union

  • Handle employment and labour disputes involving teachers

  • Follow up on legal and employment matters with government offices and employers

  • Support the implementation and resolution of workplace challenges affecting teachers

  • Copies of Form Four and Form Six certificates (where applicable)

  • Professional and academic certificates

  • Verified certificates from TCU and NECTA for applicants who studied outside Tanzania
