Maternal, Child Health (MCH), and Newborn Programs Specialist

Doris Mollel Foundation (DMF) is seeking experienced program managers and maternal, newborn, and child health specialists to support the design, leadership, and expansion of MNCH programs in Tanzania. The contract opportunity is suited to professionals with strong experience in health systems strengthening, donor-funded programs, and large-scale health initiatives.

The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple sites or regions, working with government institutions, development partners, NGOs, and implementing organizations. The role covers program design and implementation, budgeting, monitoring, reporting, quality assurance, and risk management.

About the Role

The Maternal, Child Health (MCH), and Newborn Programs Specialist will lead programs aimed at strengthening maternal, newborn, and child health systems and improving the delivery of health services. The position requires an understanding of Tanzania’s MNCH policies, priorities, and health systems.

The specialist will also manage donor-funded projects and coordinate multiple stakeholders to ensure programs achieve their intended outcomes. Strong leadership, program-management, and monitoring skills are therefore essential.

Responsibilities

• Design MNCH programs based on identified health needs and priorities.

• Lead the implementation of maternal, newborn, and child health programs.

  

• Scale MNCH programs across multiple sites or regions.

• Manage donor-funded health projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

• A Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Systems Management, Health Policy, Medicine, Nursing, Public Administration, or a related field.

• At least 6 years of progressive experience in health systems strengthening or related health programs.

• Experience managing donor-funded projects.

• Experience designing, leading, and scaling MNCH programs across multiple sites or regions.

• Experience working with NGOs and institutional donors at management and supervisory level.

• Experience leading multistakeholder programs involving government institutions, development partners, and implementing organizations.

• Strong understanding of maternal, newborn, and child health systems in Tanzania.

• Strong knowledge of Tanzania’s MNCH policies and priorities.

• Proven experience in program design and implementation.

• Experience in program budgeting and financial management.

• Strong monitoring and reporting capabilities.

• Experience in quality assurance.

• Strong risk-management skills.

• Excellent leadership and stakeholder-management abilities.

• A clinical or advanced academic qualification such as MMed, MPH, or PhD is an added advantage.
