IP Planner and OPS (2-Year Contract) at Vodacom Tanzania Plc

Vodacom Tanzania Plc is inviting applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of IP Planner and OPS based in Dar es Salaam. This is a two-year contract opportunity for candidates with a strong background in IP/MPLS network operations, planning, and telecommunications infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining operational excellence across the IP network environment, supporting business continuity, improving network performance, and collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to deliver reliable and secure telecommunications services.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day IP/MPLS network operations to achieve network performance and KPI targets.
• Perform preventive, reactive, and corrective maintenance of IP network infrastructure.
• Ensure software upgrades are completed according to vendor recommendations.
• Maintain high standards of network security and operational compliance.
• Support the evolution and modernization of the IP network environment.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date network schematics and configuration documentation.
• Monitor critical services and network links to ensure timely upgrade planning.
• Drive change control, incident management, and business continuity processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis and provide recommendations for network improvements.
• Coordinate IP-related operational activities with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Support automation initiatives to improve network efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications Required

• University Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in telecommunications operations.
• Strong knowledge of IP network design and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, or similar networking technologies.
• Understanding of mobile telecommunications network architecture and IP services operations.
• Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCA, CCNSP, or CCNSE will be an added advantage.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outside normal working hours when required.
• Willingness to travel extensively, including at short notice.
