Ramada Resort is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Sales Executive in Dar es Salaam. The opportunity is suitable for candidates with a background in hotel sales, hospitality, tourism, travel or business development who can help increase hotel revenue and expand the customer base.

The Sales Executive will focus on developing new business, managing existing accounts and promoting the resort’s accommodation, food and beverage services, meetings, conferences, weddings and other events. The role also involves building relationships with corporate clients, travel partners and other key stakeholders while working toward agreed sales targets.

About the Role

The Sales Executive will support the hotel’s commercial activities by identifying new business opportunities and developing strong relationships with existing and prospective clients. The position covers corporate, government, NGO, diplomatic, leisure and travel trade markets.

In addition, the role will contribute to MICE and events business, including meetings, conferences, weddings and banquets. The successful candidate will work closely with different hotel departments to ensure client requirements are delivered effectively while supporting revenue growth and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

The Sales Executive will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing sales activities to achieve monthly and annual targets.
  • Identifying and securing new business from corporate, government, NGO, diplomatic, leisure and travel trade markets.
  • Conducting sales calls, client visits, presentations, networking activities and site inspections.
  • Preparing quotations, proposals and rate offers in line with approved hotel policies.
  • Following up on leads and proposals to maximize conversion.
  • Maintaining an active sales pipeline and identifying opportunities for additional and repeat business.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with corporate and key accounts.
  • Identifying key decision-makers and developing account plans for high-potential clients.
  • Monitoring account production and identifying opportunities to increase room nights and revenue.
  • Maintaining accurate and updated client records.
  • Promoting hotel rooms, food and beverage services, meetings, conferences, weddings and events.
  • Generating room nights through corporate accounts, travel agents, tour operators and other business partners.
  • Identifying upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Working with the Cluster Sales Manager and Revenue team to maximize hotel revenue.
  • Generating business for meetings, conferences, weddings, banquets and corporate events.
  • Developing relationships with event planners and organizations.
  • Responding to MICE enquiries and conducting site inspections.
  • Coordinating client requirements with relevant hotel departments.
  • Following up after events to obtain feedback and encourage repeat business.
  • Developing relationships with tour operators, travel agents, wholesalers, destination management companies and other tourism partners.
  • Identifying new opportunities within local and international travel markets.
  • Participating in trade shows, exhibitions, workshops and networking events.
  • Monitoring competitor activities and market trends and providing relevant feedback to management.
  • Responding promptly to client enquiries and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Handling client complaints and coordinating their resolution with relevant departments.
  • Coordinating with Reservations, Front Office, F&B, Banqueting, Finance and Operations teams to ensure client requirements are delivered.
  • Communicating confirmed business and special arrangements to the relevant departments.
  • Maintaining an updated sales database and records of clients, leads and opportunities.
  • Preparing daily, weekly and monthly sales reports and forecasts.
  • Monitoring performance against sales targets and updating management on business opportunities.
  • Attending sales meetings and providing updates on sales performance.
  • Supporting hotel promotional, networking and marketing activities.
  • Providing feedback on customer preferences and market opportunities.
  • Ensuring rates, contracts and commercial offers comply with approved policies.
  • Coordinating with Finance on corporate accounts, credit facilities and outstanding payments.
  • Ensuring sales activities contribute to hotel revenue and profitability.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of proven sales experience.
  • Experience working within a hotel, resort, tourism or travel environment.
  • Experience in hotel corporate sales, MICE, travel trade and hospitality sales.
  • Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Experience with corporate contracting and account management.
  • Good knowledge of hotel products, services and revenue-generating opportunities.
