KCB Bank Tanzania is inviting applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Digital Sales Officer in Dar es Salaam. The Digital Sales Officer will focus on acquiring new customers through digital channels, supporting merchants and agents, training customers on digital banking services and growing business relationships. The role also involves meeting sales targets, activating dormant customers, cross-selling banking products and identifying new business opportunities within the assigned market.

About the Role

The Digital Sales Officer will serve as an important link between KCB Bank Tanzania and prospective and existing customers using digital banking channels. The position involves assessing merchant and agent applications, supporting customer onboarding and ensuring approved customers understand how to use mobile and internet banking services.

In addition, the officer will manage customer relationships, monitor business activities, support compliance with bank policies and develop strategies to increase customer turnover and non-funded income. The role requires strong sales, negotiation, relationship management and customer engagement skills.

Responsibilities

The Digital Sales Officer will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating first-contact meetings with potential KCB Bank customers through digital channels.
  • Searching for, assessing, accepting and processing applications from prospective merchants and agents.
  • Conducting initial activation and routine training for approved merchants, agents and customers on mobile and internet banking.
  • Ensuring customers understand how to effectively use available digital banking services.
  • Submitting all tools of trade provided by the bank to customers immediately after approval.
  • Ensuring merchant and agent premises are properly branded according to approved KCB Bank standards.
  • Monitoring customer activities and ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures.
  • Conducting periodic visits to merchant and agent business premises as part of relationship management.
  • Growing customer turnover and non-funded income in line with agreed targets.
  • Managing customer relationships and ensuring complaints and disputes are resolved on time.
  • Activating dormant customers on mobile banking, internet banking and agency banking platforms.
  • Cross-selling other KCB Bank products and services.
  • Recruiting new and quality business within the allocated market.
  • Proactively creating and developing business relationships with customers.
  • Building close working relationships with branch staff, SME and Corporate teams to generate business opportunities.
  • Implementing activities that deliver value-added products and services at merchant and agent locations.
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of merchant, agency banking, internet banking and mobile banking operations and risk strategies.
  • Managing and responding to customer requirements.
  • Establishing, building and maintaining long-term relationships to develop, sustain and protect agent business.
  • Developing a deep understanding of customers' business needs and requirements.
  • Making sound commercial decisions to retain and fully develop the customer base.
  • Providing evidence of customer demand to help influence new products, enhancements and solutions.
  • Developing and following a personal sales plan to achieve assigned objectives and targets.
  • Managing daily activities and time effectively to maximize the return on available resources.
  • Keeping updated on customer activities through media and relevant internal Group sources.
  • Maintaining a good understanding of the business environment in which customers operate.
  • Continuously updating knowledge of KCB Bank products and services.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance or an equivalent field.
  • Between 0 and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience or skills in new business development.
  • Strong customer contact and negotiation skills.
  • Good relationship management skills.
  • Understanding of merchant and agent banking operations.
  • Understanding of internet and mobile banking operations and related risk strategies.
  • Ability to develop and manage personal sales plans.
  • Strong personal time management skills.
  • Good knowledge of the market and willingness to continuously learn about KCB Bank products and services.
  • A background in agent banking and cards is an added advantage.
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) is an added advantage.
