Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is inviting qualified candidates to apply for the permanent position of Stores Operator within its Manufacturing Department. This opportunity is based in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal, and is ideal for experienced warehouse and inventory professionals who thrive in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing raw materials and spare parts, maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting production requirements, and ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and SHEQ standards. The role also involves leading a small stores team while driving continuous improvement across warehouse operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Receive, store, and issue packaging materials, ingredients, consumables, and spare parts accurately and on time.
- Ensure raw material availability aligns with production schedules to prevent line stoppages.
- Implement and maintain FIFO and FEFO inventory management principles.
- Monitor stock levels and respond to reorder alerts to avoid stock shortages or overstocking.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts and resolve inventory variances.
- Process ERP transactions, including goods receipts, stock transfers, production issues, and returns.
- Ensure materials are stored according to FSSC, Food Safety, Quality, and SHEQ standards.
- Isolate and report non-conforming materials and coordinate corrective actions with Quality and Procurement.
- Maintain complete documentation and traceability to support audit readiness.
- Update ERP records accurately for all material movements and inventory activities.
- Generate operational inventory reports and identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Stores Controller and Stores Operator team.
- Promote discipline, accountability, and compliance within the warehouse.
- Collaborate with Production, Procurement, and suppliers to ensure timely material availability.
- Escalate critical inventory and storage risks with practical solutions.
- Support 5S, warehouse optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive the reduction of material losses and operational waste.
Qualifications and experience required:
- National Diploma or NQF Level 6 in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehouse Management, or a related field.
- Qualification in Food Technology is an added advantage.
- MM/WM training is preferred.
- Certificate in Inventory or Warehouse Management is advantageous.
- 3–5 years of experience in warehouse or stores operations within FMCG or food and beverage manufacturing.
- Experience managing raw materials in a high-volume production environment.
- Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory or team leader experience.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP MM and WM modules.
- Excellent understanding of inventory control, FIFO, FEFO, and warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of Food Safety, Quality, and SHEQ compliance standards.
- Familiarity with 5S, Lean warehousing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
