M-Pesa Lead Southern at Vodacom Tanzania Plc

Vodacom Tanzania Plc is seeking an experienced M-Pesa Lead to oversee and grow its M-Pesa business across the Southern region of Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving regional performance, expanding the M-Pesa customer base, strengthening distribution, and increasing revenue market share in line with the company’s overall M-Pesa strategy.

The role requires strong commercial, sales, distribution, and mobile money experience. The M-Pesa Lead will work closely with partners, agents, merchants, customers, and internal teams to implement strategic commercial plans, coordinate campaigns, monitor market dynamics, and ensure continued growth of M-Pesa activities across the region.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and implement the M-Pesa regional commercial plan in line with Vodacom’s overall annual M-Pesa strategy.
• Increase the width and depth of M-Pesa distribution to support customer and revenue growth.
• Coordinate sales and distribution activities across the region, including wakalas, super agents, and merchants.
• Coordinate and support M-Pesa partners within the region.
• Optimize distribution partners’ returns on investment while maintaining mutually beneficial commercial relationships.
• Conduct information mining and analysis to support M-Pesa performance reviews.
• Develop relevant action plans at regional, territory, and cluster levels based on performance information.
• Prepare weekly M-Pesa performance reports for management meetings.
• Develop and execute approved quarterly tactical plans to support M-Pesa growth.
• Develop and implement on-demand tactical plans in response to changing market dynamics.
• Monitor market conditions and identify opportunities to increase customer mobile money activity and M-Pesa revenue market share.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in a business-related course.
• 3–5 years of varied experience in on-ground Mobile Money sales.
• At least 2 years of experience at a senior level.
• Extensive knowledge of the Mobile Financial Services business and value chain.
• Sound understanding of distribution models and routes to market.
• Strong knowledge of mobile money product penetration and on-ground execution.
• Strong mobile money commercial analysis skills.
• Ability to manage outsourcing partners to deliver business solutions and results.
• Ability to anticipate customer, competitor, and market dynamics.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the business.
• Sound sales and distribution experience, with a combination of FMCG and direct marketing experience.
• Strong planning and execution capabilities.
