Administrator: Infrastructure Operations at Road Accident Fund

The Road Accident Fund (RAF) is inviting applications for the position of Administrator: Infrastructure Operations based in Centurion, Gauteng. This permanent opportunity is suitable for an information technology professional with experience in infrastructure operations, Microsoft server administration, Active Directory, and cloud infrastructure environments.

Reporting to the Manager: Infrastructure Operations, the successful candidate will provide technical administration and support for infrastructure and cloud services. The role focuses on maintaining reliable infrastructure, administering Microsoft systems and cloud platforms, supporting users, monitoring performance, and ensuring that infrastructure services operate securely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

• Participate in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of server services.
• Administer Microsoft servers, Active Directory, Exchange, SCOM, and SCCM environments.
• Maintain structured access control and system policies through Active Directory.
• Monitor Active Directory, ADMT, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, account security, file security, and storage technologies.
• Maintain Active Directory within a multi-site environment supporting more than 3,000 users.
• Monitor server security logs and report inconsistencies.
• Maintain remote access server services.
• Apply and maintain global, computer, and user policies.
• Maintain Active Directory and server security.
• Administer AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure platform services.
• Monitor virtual servers and related cloud services for performance and availability.
• Support capacity planning for the cloud infrastructure environment.
• Identify and address inconsistencies within the cloud environment.
• Prepare and maintain server-related documentation.
• Monitor server performance.
• Provide second-line support for incident management and incident resolution.
• Resolve incidents within agreed service-level agreements (SLAs).
• Monitor logged incidents and ensure compliance with applicable SLAs.
• Identify, track, and resolve system problems.
• Escalate system problems or improvement opportunities to software vendors or the relevant Application Manager.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
• Respond to information requests and enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
• Microsoft Active Directory and Server Administration certification.
• ITIL v3 or ITIL v4 certification or an equivalent operational framework certification.
• AWS and/or Azure certification will be an added advantage.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in an Infrastructure Operations environment.
• Experience in infrastructure service provisioning, configuration, and support.
• Experience monitoring cloud infrastructure and services for performance and availability.
• Experience managing home folders and data-sharing structures.
• Experience administering, managing, and configuring print server services.
• Experience maintaining server security at the virtual level.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and server administration.
• Knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure environments.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Strong planning, organising, and coordination skills.
• Good judgement and decision-making ability.
