Senior Technician – Mombasa at Kenya Airways PLC

Kenya Airways PLC is seeking a qualified Senior Technician to support aircraft maintenance operations in Mombasa. The position involves carrying out aircraft inspections, troubleshooting defects, performing maintenance and replacement tasks, and certifying completed work within the applicable single-scope approval.

The successful candidate will contribute to the safe and timely release of aircraft while maintaining compliance with KCAA regulations and company procedures. The role also involves supporting aircraft movement, maintaining accurate maintenance records, developing technicians, and working toward additional licences and approvals.

Responsibilities include:

• Assess aircraft defects, troubleshoot problems, carry out rectification, and certify work within the applicable single-scope approval.
• Perform scheduled aircraft maintenance checks and Service Bulletins (SBs).
• Certify completed maintenance within the applicable single-scope approval to support the safe and timely release of aircraft within planned downtime.
• Identify and requisition the parts required for maintenance activities.
• Carry out and certify duplicate inspections on safety-critical aircraft and engine systems within the applicable single-scope approval.
• Report incidents and accident occurrences in accordance with company procedures.
• Accurately record and sign off maintenance tasks completed within the applicable single-scope approval.
• Maintain correct and up-to-date aircraft maintenance history and data.
• Adhere to the company’s safety, health, and environmental policies.
• Coordinate aircraft towing to and from hangars by communicating with tower/apron control.
• Operate the necessary aircraft systems during aircraft towing activities to support safe and timely movement.
• Carry out security checks in accordance with the Engineering Security Document Annex 8.
• Develop and support technicians to improve their competency and efficiency.
• Work toward acquiring dual licences and additional approvals.

Qualifications required:

• Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Technician.
• Apprenticeship Programme is an added advantage.
• Part 147 company-operated fleet type training is an added advantage.
• Completion of all mandatory training.
• Evidence of using approvals held in relation to the applicable licence.
• Good judgement and strong attention to detail.
• High level of honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
• Good negotiation skills.
• Assertive and effective communication skills.
• Creativity and lateral thinking.
• Ability to work in an agile environment.
• Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
