Aviation Calibration Technician at Kenya Airways PLC

Responsibilities include:

• Carry out calibration activities for aviation instruments, including mechanical, electrical, pressure, torque, and temperature instruments.
• Apply metrology principles and maintain traceability to applicable national and international standards.
• Work with reference standards, calibration masters, and appropriate traceability chains.
• Apply measurement principles and understand measurement uncertainty.
• Assess calibration tolerances, acceptance criteria, and correction factors.
• Label and control calibrated tools in accordance with established tool control policies.
• Identify tools and instruments that are out of tolerance or require repair or replacement.
• Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation.
• Use ERP systems or calibration management software where applicable.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, calibration procedures, and engineering specifications.
• Carry out assigned repair and replacement tasks on aircraft components in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.
• Maintain high levels of precision, accuracy, and attention to detail during calibration and maintenance activities.
• Ensure calibration activities comply with applicable quality, safety, and aviation maintenance requirements.
• Maintain proper records to support equipment traceability and calibration history.

Qualifications required:

• Diploma in Applied Sciences, Metrology, Aircraft Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a busy ISO/IEC 17025 calibration laboratory.
• Experience in an aviation maintenance support or calibration environment.
• Knowledge of metrology and tool calibration procedures.
• Understanding of calibration tolerances, acceptance criteria, and measurement principles.
• Knowledge of reference standards, calibration masters, and traceability requirements.
• Understanding of measurement uncertainty and correction factors.
• Knowledge of aviation maintenance regulations and applicable standards, including ISO, EASA, and MIL-SPEC requirements.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, and AS9100 quality systems.
• Awareness of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
• OEM calibration training is an advantage.
• EASA/FAA Part 145 regulatory training is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data logging.
• Risk awareness and ability to comply with safety and hazardous-material protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, calibration procedures, and engineering specifications.
• Familiarity with ERP systems or calibration management software.
• Basic knowledge of aviation legislation and regulations.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards.
