Material Controller - Contract and Supplier Performance at Kenya Airways PLC

Kenya Airways PLC is seeking a qualified and experienced Material Controller - Contract and Supplier Performance to support inventory optimization, contract management, material cost control, and supplier performance improvement. The role involves analyzing materials data and developing practical solutions that support contract decisions and efficient business operations.

The successful candidate will use industry-proven performance metrics to monitor suppliers, manage contracts and agreements, analyze material costs, and provide accurate reports for management decision-making. Strong analytical, negotiation, planning, and contract management skills are essential for this position.

Responsibilities include:

• Drive contract negotiations by analyzing and reviewing relevant materials data.
• Operationalize existing contracts and agreements to support business requirements.
• Monitor and control contract performance, including CSP, PBH, GTA, and ad-hoc arrangements.
• Generate regular management reports and additional reports when required.
• Review and manage materials costs to support cost-effective operations.
• Analyze inventory and materials data to identify opportunities for optimization.
• Monitor supplier performance using appropriate industry metrics and performance indicators.
• Support smooth material supply in line with maintenance requirements and approved budgets.
• Work with relevant stakeholders to resolve supplier and contract-related issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of contract, inventory, and supplier management processes.

Qualifications required:

• University degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Strong IT systems knowledge and skills, including advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience in a material cost control role.
• Experience supervising the smooth supply of materials in line with maintenance requirements and budgets.
• Experience in aviation or manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Experience in contract management.
• Good knowledge of inventory management.
• Advanced understanding of materials management data and systems.
• Knowledge of aircraft components and parts.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret approved maintenance documentation such as IPC, RSPL, AMM, and SBs.
• Knowledge of lean techniques.
• Knowledge of aircraft parts airworthiness certification requirements, including EASA and FAA standards.
• Knowledge of KCAA and customs regulations relevant to aircraft parts is desirable.
• Good understanding of IATA resolutions and relevant industry rules.
• Membership of an appropriate professional body is an added advantage.
• Five years of working knowledge and experience, preferably in aircraft maintenance or another technical field.
