Warranty Engineer at Kenya Airways PLC

Kenya Airways PLC is seeking a qualified Warranty Engineer to manage and progress claims related to maintenance reserves, warranties, guarantees, and insurance. The role is focused on protecting the organization’s financial interests while supporting product quality through effective warranty and claims management.

The successful candidate will work with aircraft, engine, and component maintenance records, contracts, technical information, and performance data to identify eligible claims and secure appropriate compensation. This position requires strong analytical and mathematical skills, attention to detail, business awareness, and relevant engineering or supply chain experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Compile aircraft and engine component maintenance records to identify tasks that qualify for maintenance reserve compensation.
• Initiate maintenance reserve claims with the respective lessors.
• Review aircraft, engine, and component maintenance records to identify restoration, modification, and inspection activities that qualify for warranty compensation.
• Initiate warranty claims with relevant vendors to support cost optimization.
• Monitor deviations from contracted terms and initiate appropriate recovery measures.
• Track aircraft, engine, and component performance, including MTBF and MTBR, to identify situations where performance falls below guaranteed levels.
• Initiate appropriate action to obtain compensation where contractual guarantees are not achieved.
• Collect information relating to aircraft, engine, and component damage incidents and losses.
• Initiate insurance claims through the Kenya Airways insurance section.
• Extract and compile company entitlements and obligations under executed agreements.
• Circulate relevant contractual information to promote awareness across the organization.
• Prepare and distribute monthly claims status reports for monitoring and operational use.
• Work effectively with repair, warranties, stores, inventory, technical, production, and quality functions.

Qualifications required:

• University degree from a recognized institution in Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
• At least five years of working knowledge and experience, preferably in aircraft maintenance or another relevant technical field.
• Aviation industry experience in supply chain is preferred.
• Familiarity with repair, warranty, stores, inventory, technical, production, and quality interfaces.
• Ability to examine large and complex datasets, identify trends, and derive meaningful insights.
• Ability to understand complex contracts and summarize key contractual terms.
• Strong working knowledge of aircraft maintenance is an added advantage.
• Successful completion of a Graduate Engineering Program is an added advantage.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of commercial considerations.
• Strong analytical ability and excellent mathematical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
