Mwanga Hakika Bank Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Head SME Banking in Dar es Salaam. This full-time opportunity is designed for an experienced banking or financial services professional with strong expertise in SME banking, lending, business development, product development, customer relationship management, and portfolio management.

The successful candidate will lead the growth, profitability, and strategic development of the Bank’s SME and Micro Business Banking portfolio. The role involves developing SME banking strategies, expanding customer relationships and business deposits, improving access to financing solutions, managing lending portfolios, and ensuring sustainable growth while maintaining strong asset quality across the Bank’s operating markets.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Lead the development and execution of the Bank’s SME Banking strategy.
• Drive growth in SME customer accounts and business deposits.
• Develop and manage SME lending products, including working capital and business expansion loans.
• Develop the Bank’s SME and Micro Lending Policy.
• Develop and implement customer acquisition and retention strategies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with SME clients and business communities.
• Oversee the SME lending portfolio and ensure sustainable growth and portfolio quality.
• Monitor SME portfolio performance and implement strategies to reduce non-performing loans.
• Collaborate with Risk and Credit teams to promote responsible SME and Micro lending.
• Identify the highest and lowest risk market segments for different SME and Business Banking products.
• Oversee branches in the recovery of SME and Micro Banking clients.
• Strengthen SME advisory services and financial solutions for business customers.
• Lead and develop SME Relationship Managers and Business Bankers.
• Support branch teams in SME customer acquisition and relationship management.
• Lead sales and marketing strategies for SME and Micro Banking products.
• Increase market share and product penetration.
• Identify growth sectors and new SME market opportunities within the Bank’s operating markets.
• Maintain high service standards through quality assurance and control.
• Monitor competitor offerings and identify opportunities to improve service delivery and product range.
• Coach, mentor, and develop high-performing SME and Business Banking teams.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Banking, Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A postgraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, Marketing, or an equivalent qualification.
• Five to seven years of experience in a financial institution or FMCG environment.
• At least three years of experience at a senior managerial level.
• Experience managing SME or Corporate Banking portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of SME Lending Management.
• Experience in SME Product Development and Advisory.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent selling and networking skills.
• Proven managerial leadership experience.
• Ability to lead a large team and interact effectively with people at different organizational levels.
