NMB Bank Plc is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Relationship Manager; Parastatals at its Head Office in Dar es Salaam. This full-time opportunity is suitable for banking professionals with experience in relationship management, loan portfolio management, sales, and business development within the financial services sector.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and growing the Salaried Workers Loan (SWL) portfolio across parastatal institutions. The role will involve acquiring new schemes, increasing penetration within existing schemes, maintaining portfolio quality, and leading Direct Sales Staff (DSS) to achieve sales and disbursement targets while maintaining compliance and a strong customer and employer experience.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Identify, negotiate, and onboard new parastatal schemes in line with the Bank’s SWL growth strategy.
- Increase penetration within existing parastatal schemes through regular engagement with Human Resources and Payroll officers.
- Conduct structured employer visits, presentations, and financial literacy sessions to promote SWL awareness.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers within parastatal institutions.
- Develop and implement scheme penetration plans with measurable milestones for each parastatal.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and daily support to Direct Sales Staff to achieve SWL acquisition and disbursement targets.
- Monitor DSS productivity, including applications, disbursements, and conversion rates.
- Take corrective action where DSS performance falls below expectations.
- Conduct joint field visits with DSS to employers to ensure effective product promotion and scheme onboarding.
- Ensure DSS comply with applicable standards, ethical sales practices, and documentation requirements.
- Monitor the SWL loan portfolio across parastatal schemes.
- Drive portfolio growth while maintaining quality and minimizing non-performing loans.
- Follow up with employers regarding timely payroll deductions, reconciliations, and arrears management.
- Identify and escalate risks affecting scheme performance.
- Take proactive measures to minimize defaults and protect portfolio quality.
- Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on parastatal performance and DSS output.
- Conduct competitor analysis and gather customer and employer feedback.
- Recommend improvements to products, processes, and market positioning.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business-related studies.
- At least four years of banking experience in Relationship Management and/or Loan Portfolio Management.
- A proven track record in driving lending penetration and portfolio growth is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Vision, Word, and Publisher.
- Strong coaching skills.
- A strong customer-focused approach.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Confidence and strong presentation skills.
- Understanding of and interest in financial and banking products and markets.
- Ability to explain and handle complex information clearly and simply.
- Good sales and negotiation skills.
