Project Manager – Mechanical Building Services (HVAC & Plumbing)

Sihotech Engineering Company Limited is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Mechanical Building Services (HVAC & Plumbing) to join its team in Dar es Salaam. This full-time position is ideal for highly qualified mechanical engineers with extensive experience in managing mechanical building services for commercial and high-rise construction projects from design through commissioning and final handover.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, overseeing multidisciplinary engineering teams and ensuring that mechanical systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering standards, building regulations, and project specifications. The role requires strong project management expertise and the ability to coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to achieve successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical building services.

• Manage Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.

  

• Oversee plumbing system installation and implementation.

• Manage firefighting systems.

• Supervise water supply systems.

• Oversee drainage systems.

• Manage ventilation systems.

• Coordinate mechanical works with architectural, structural, electrical, and ICT teams.

• Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Manage project schedules, budgets, risks, documentation, and quality delivery.

• Review and approve mechanical designs.

• Review and approve technical submissions.

• Review and approve commissioning reports.

• Provide technical leadership to ensure quality, efficiency, and timely project execution.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

• Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).

• Valid ERB Practising Licence.

• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical building services for commercial or high-rise buildings.

• Strong expertise in:

  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.

  • Plumbing systems.

  • Firefighting systems.

• Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

• Sound knowledge of:

  • ASHRAE standards.

  • SMACNA standards.

  • NFPA codes.

  • International Plumbing Code (IPC).

  • Relevant building codes and engineering regulations.

• Good understanding of testing and commissioning procedures, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and stakeholder communication skills.
