Exim Bank (Tanzania) Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Manager to oversee compliance risk management and financial crime controls across the Bank. The role involves working closely with business and functional teams to ensure that operations, products, projects, and business practices comply with applicable regulatory requirements and the Bank’s internal policies.
The successful candidate will help strengthen a proactive compliance culture, identify and assess regulatory and financial crime risks, develop mitigation strategies, and provide compliance advice to management and the Board. The position also involves compliance training, governance, risk assessments, and monitoring the effectiveness of financial crime controls.
Responsibilities

Lead implementation of the Bank’s Compliance Risk Policy and ensure effective risk identification and assessment.

Provide compliance advice and mitigation strategies for new products, systems, business ventures, outsourcing arrangements, and process changes.

Lead compliance risk assessments for key Bank products and projects.

Develop and review compliance risk policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance policies and strategies align with applicable regulations and the Bank’s strategic objectives.

Identify, assess, and monitor compliance risks across business and functional units.

Develop action plans to manage compliance risks and support achievement of business objectives.

Develop and deliver compliance training and awareness programmes.

Establish strong working relationships with subsidiaries, business heads, and functional heads.

Support the development and monitoring of compliance risk mitigation plans.

Recommend appropriate compliance risk appetite to Management and the Board.

Develop and use compliance risk policies, practices, and tools to analyse and report compliance risks.

Provide inputs to Management Committees responsible for Enterprise Risk Management.

Maintain an effective compliance governance framework across the Bank.

Support timely resolution and closure of issues arising from compliance and risk reviews.

Embed and maintain the Financial Crime Risk Policy across the Bank.

Develop and monitor Financial Crime Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), and governance assessments.

Recommend Financial Crime risk appetite to Management and the Board.

Promote a proactive financial crime risk management culture across the Bank.

Conduct periodic assessments of the effectiveness of financial crime risk management.

Perform other duties assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in compliance or a related field.

Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Professional qualifications such as CAMS, CRMA, or CISA are an added advantage.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Effective stakeholder engagement skills.

Strong knowledge of controls and risk assessments.

Good business understanding and strong analytical skills.
