DFS Manager - Card Issuing at KCB Bank Tanzania

KCB Bank Tanzania is recruiting a DFS Manager – Card Issuing to lead the growth and management of its card issuing business across retail, SME, and corporate banking. The role focuses on developing innovative card products, driving customer acquisition and usage, managing strategic partnerships, and ensuring secure, compliant, and profitable card operations.

The successful candidate will oversee the entire card product lifecycle while delivering exceptional customer experience and supporting the Bank’s digital payments strategy.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to grow the Bank’s card issuing portfolio.

  

• Manage the full lifecycle of card products, including design, launch, pricing, enhancement, and retirement.

• Drive card acquisition, activation, utilization, and customer retention initiatives.

  

• Monitor portfolio performance to increase transaction volumes and fee income.

• Develop innovative card solutions, including virtual cards, contactless payments, and tokenization.

  

• Prepare annual business plans and growth strategies for the card business.

• Identify opportunities for new card products and value-added services.

  

• Support cross-selling initiatives across retail, SME, and corporate customer segments.

• Manage relationships with Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, and other payment networks.

• Coordinate product certifications, marketing campaigns, and compliance requirements.

• Collaborate with technology partners, processors, and service providers to improve card services.

• Negotiate commercial agreements and strategic partnerships.

• Oversee card issuance, settlement, reconciliations, dispute management, and transaction monitoring.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, card scheme rules, and internal policies.

• Work closely with Risk, Compliance, and Fraud teams to strengthen security controls.

• Monitor fraud trends and implement mitigation measures.

• Improve cardholder experience through enhanced service delivery and customer awareness campaigns.

• Track business performance, prepare management reports, and recommend corrective actions.

• Manage budgets and optimize operational efficiency within the card business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, or an equivalent field.

• Strong merchant acquiring and card payments background.

• Minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience.

• Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an added advantage.
