Job Description

CRDB Bank Plc is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Senior Specialist Financial Reporting. The role is responsible for ensuring that the Bank’s financial reports are prepared accurately and in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), regulatory requirements, Bank policies, and established financial procedures.

The successful candidate will support financial statement preparation, audit coordination, IFRS compliance, month-end and year-end reporting, and financial analysis for both the Bank and Group. Strong knowledge of banking-sector accounting, financial reporting standards, and attention to detail will be important for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual trial balances.

  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely closure of financial records.

  • Support preparation of the Bank’s and Group’s audited financial statements in compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities.

  • Provide documentation and respond to audit queries within required timelines.

  • Follow up on audit recommendations and support resolution of audit findings.

  • Support preparation of Quarterly Board and Management performance reports.

  • Analyse actual results against budgets, forecasts, and previous-period performance.

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS 16 requirements.

  • Maintain lease schedules and calculate lease liabilities and right-of-use assets.

  • Prepare relevant IFRS 16 disclosures.

  • Ensure proper amortisation, recognition, and deferral of loan facility fees and transaction costs in accordance with IFRS 9.

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS 9 requirements relating to effective interest rate calculations and interest income recognition.

  • Manage non-earning assets and compute Expected Credit Losses (ECL) on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

  • Validate ECL assumptions and reconcile outputs.

  • Post appropriate accounting entries into core banking and general ledger systems.

  • Prepare and post month-end and year-end journals, accruals, provisions, adjustments, and reclassification entries.

  • Liaise with business units, subsidiaries, Finance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate Group financial information.

  • Resolve financial reporting issues within required timelines.

  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of IFRS disclosures, financial statement notes, and supporting schedules.

  • Assist in reviewing and updating the accounting manual.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.

  • CPA, ACCA, or another relevant professional qualification is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial reporting.

  • Strong knowledge and practical application of IFRS Accounting Standards.

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.

  • Experience in financial and Trial Balance preparation.

  • Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS standards.

  • Understanding of financial policies and procedures within the banking industry.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • High level of integrity and accountability.

  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to work across multiple teams and manage competing priorities.
