DFS Manager – Card Issuing at KCB Bank Tanzania

KCB Bank Tanzania is seeking an experienced professional for the position of DFS Manager – Card Issuing in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to grow the Bank’s card issuing portfolio across retail, SME and corporate customer segments while improving card acquisition, activation, usage and retention.

The role covers the full card product lifecycle, from product design and launch to enhancement and retirement. The successful candidate will also manage relationships with card schemes, technology partners and service providers, oversee card operations and risk controls, drive emerging payment technologies and monitor the overall performance and profitability of the card business.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to grow the Bank’s card issuing portfolio across retail, SME and corporate segments.

  

• Manage the complete lifecycle of card products, including product design, launch, enhancement, pricing and retirement.

• Drive card acquisition, activation, utilisation and retention initiatives.

  

• Monitor portfolio performance and implement initiatives to increase transaction volumes and fee income.

• Recommend innovative card solutions to address changing customer needs.

  

• Develop annual business plans and growth strategies for the card business.

• Identify opportunities for new card products, digital cards and value-added services.

  

• Drive adoption of virtual cards, contactless payments, tokenisation and other emerging payment technologies.

• Identify cross-selling opportunities across retail, SME and corporate customer segments.

• Manage relationships with Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay and domestic payment networks.

• Coordinate card scheme initiatives, product certifications, marketing campaigns and compliance requirements.

• Work with technology partners, processors and service providers to improve card services and customer experience.

• Negotiate commercial arrangements and partnership agreements to maximise value for the Bank.

• Oversee card issuance processes, transaction monitoring, settlements, reconciliations and dispute management.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, card scheme rules and internal policies.

• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance and Fraud teams to strengthen fraud prevention and risk controls.

• Monitor card fraud trends and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

• Ensure timely resolution of operational and customer service issues.

• Develop initiatives to improve cardholder experience and customer satisfaction.

• Monitor service levels and turnaround times for card issuance and support.

• Support customer awareness campaigns covering card benefits, security and usage.

• Drive digital adoption through integration of card products with digital channels.

• Monitor card issuance, activation, transaction volumes, revenue and profitability.

• Prepare management reports and business performance reviews.

• Track business targets and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

• Manage budgets and improve operational efficiency within the card business.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance or an equivalent field.

• Strong background in merchant acquiring and card-related services.

• At least 6 years of relevant working experience.

• Master’s degree in Business Administration is an added advantage.
