DFS Manager – Card Acquiring at KCB Bank Tanzania

KCB Bank Tanzania is seeking an experienced professional for the position of DFS Manager – Card Acquiring in Dar es Salaam. The role is responsible for executing the Bank’s merchant acquiring strategy and driving growth, revenue and profitability across card acquiring, POS, e-commerce, QR payments, KCB Lipa and other digital payment channels.

The successful candidate will manage the merchant acquiring portfolio, develop strategic partnerships, expand payment channels and oversee the end-to-end acquiring lifecycle. The position also involves managing international money transfer opportunities, monitoring risks and compliance, improving customer experience and leading teams to achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the Bank’s merchant acquiring strategy to achieve growth, revenue and profitability targets.

  • Expand acquiring channels, including POS, card acquiring, e-commerce, KCB Lipa, QR payments and other digital payment solutions.

  • Identify new markets, customer segments and partnerships to increase transaction volumes and merchant penetration.

  • Contribute to the Bank’s digital payments and digital transformation strategy.

  • Support merchant acquisition, onboarding, activation and retention initiatives.

  • Build relationships with merchants, aggregators, fintechs, payment service providers and other stakeholders.

  • Manage the merchant portfolio and drive growth in active merchants, transaction volumes and revenue.

  • Monitor merchant performance and implement initiatives to improve activity and retention.

  • Oversee deployment, utilisation and performance of POS terminals and payment acceptance devices.

  • Monitor acquiring transaction trends and develop strategies to increase card usage and merchant acceptance.

  • Ensure timely merchant settlements and effective acquiring operations.

  • Optimise acquiring channels to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.

  • Drive adoption of e-commerce payment solutions and digital acceptance channels.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop innovative payment products and services.

  • Monitor industry trends and recommend enhancements to strengthen the Bank’s position in digital payments.

  • Manage and grow the Bank’s international money transfer business through partnerships and channel optimisation.

  • Work with remittance partners to increase transaction volumes and customer adoption.

  • Identify opportunities for new remittance corridors and value-added services.

  • Monitor business performance and regulatory compliance.

  • Develop business plans, budgets and revenue forecasts for the acquiring portfolio.

  • Achieve revenue, transaction volume, merchant acquisition and profitability targets.

  • Analyse business performance indicators and implement corrective actions.

  • Identify opportunities to optimise costs and improve business efficiency.

  • Support the development, enhancement and commercialisation of acquiring and payment solutions.

  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis.

  • Collaborate with technology, operations and business teams to implement new products and features.

  • Drive innovation to improve customer experience and business performance.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, card scheme rules, AML/CFT policies and internal procedures.

  • Monitor acquiring risks, fraud trends, chargebacks and disputes and implement mitigation measures.

  • Ensure merchants comply with onboarding, KYC and due diligence requirements.

  • Support audits, regulatory reviews and compliance assessments.

  • Oversee the complete acquiring lifecycle, including merchant onboarding, transaction processing, settlement, reconciliation and support.

  • Maintain service delivery standards and operational controls across acquiring channels.

  • Work with Operations, Technology, Risk and Compliance teams to resolve issues and improve processes.

  • Monitor vendor and service-provider performance against agreed service levels.

  • Champion excellent merchant and customer experiences.

  • Address customer complaints and service issues effectively.

  • Implement initiatives to improve customer satisfaction, loyalty and product adoption.

  • Prepare and present business performance reports to management and relevant committees.

  • Provide insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.

  • Maintain effective relationships with regulators, payment schemes, fintechs, merchants and international partners.

  • Support, coach and develop team members.

  • Establish performance goals and monitor individual and team performance.

  • Promote accountability, innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.

  • Support succession planning and talent development within the acquiring function.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Strong background in merchant acquiring and card payments.

  • At least 6 years of relevant professional experience.

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration is an added advantage.
