Card Acquiring Specialist at KCB Bank Tanzania

KCB Bank Tanzania is seeking a qualified Card Acquiring Specialist to join its team in Dar es Salaam. This full-time opportunity is suitable for banking and payments professionals with experience in merchant acquiring, card payments, digital payment solutions, sales, and relationship management.

The successful candidate will support the acquisition, onboarding, activation, and retention of merchants across POS, Agent Banking POS, card payments, KCB Lipa, international money transfer, and e-commerce solutions. The role also involves managing merchant relationships, supporting payment platforms, identifying revenue opportunities, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the growth of digital payment services.

Responsibilities

The Card Acquiring Specialist will be responsible for:

• Supporting merchant acquisition, onboarding, activation, and retention across various payment solutions.

• Supporting POS, Agent Banking POS, Card Payments, KCB Lipa, International Money Transfer, and e-commerce services.

  

• Providing end-to-end administration and support for merchant acquiring and digital payment platforms.

• Developing and executing sales plans to achieve business and revenue targets.

  

• Identifying cross-selling opportunities in collaboration with SME, Corporate, and Branch teams.

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with merchants, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), and other stakeholders.

  

• Serving as the primary contact for acquiring customers.

• Understanding merchant business needs and recommending appropriate acquiring solutions.

• Managing customer requirements and supporting account retention and expansion.

• Promoting POS, e-commerce, and other digital payment solutions.

• Appraising merchant applications and recommending qualified merchants based on risk and business criteria.

• Supporting pricing, contract, and operational discussions and negotiations with customers.

• Coordinating merchant training on POS and card acceptance operations.

• Training merchants on Lipa Namba and e-commerce solutions.

• Supporting fraud prevention and chargeback management awareness.

• Providing guidance on AML requirements and payment acceptance best practices.

• Maintaining knowledge of merchant acquiring products, pricing models, and risk strategies.

• Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, card-scheme rules, and internal policies.

• Driving adoption of value-added products and services to increase revenue from existing customers.

• Providing market intelligence and customer feedback to support product development.

• Making commercially sound decisions that support profitability and customer retention.

• Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.

• Monitoring market trends, customer activities, competitor developments, and industry changes.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, or an equivalent field.

• Professional qualifications in merchant acquiring and card-related services.

• Master’s degree in Business Administration is an added advantage.

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

• Strong understanding of merchant acquiring products, pricing models, and risk strategies.

• Knowledge of regulatory, card-scheme, and internal compliance requirements.

• Strong sales and relationship-management skills.

• Ability to appraise merchant applications.

• Good training and presentation skills.

• Strong commercial decision-making abilities.

• Good reporting skills.

• Ability to monitor and analyse market developments.

• Strong understanding of payment and merchant-service environments.
