Senior NOC Engineer – 2 Positions at Yas Tanzania

Yas Tanzania is seeking two Senior NOC Engineers to join its operations team in Dar es Salaam. This is a full-time opportunity for experienced IT operations, Network Operations Centre (NOC), L2 support, and DevOps professionals with strong expertise in incident management and high-availability environments.

The Senior NOC Engineer will provide technical and operational leadership during assigned shifts, manage escalated incidents, analyse service performance using monitoring and observability tools, and support continuous improvement. The position is particularly suited to professionals with advanced experience in Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana/ELK, ServiceNow, and modern application environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

• Lead and oversee assigned Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie shifts.

• Ensure operational effectiveness, team performance, and quality service delivery.

  

• Review and approve shift handovers, ensuring accurate transfer of incidents, alerts, and operational activities.

• Maintain on-call readiness during designated shifts.

  

• Provide incident leadership during major or concurrent service disruptions.

• Coordinate incident communications, escalation notifications, supplier engagement, and stakeholder updates.

  

• Own and manage escalated incidents through detailed investigation and troubleshooting.

• Conduct advanced analysis using Kibana, Grafana, and related monitoring tools.

• Identify root causes, service anomalies, performance trends, and potential operational risks.

• Translate technical issues into business-impact assessments.

• Provide clear operational updates to management and stakeholders.

• Manage supplier escalations and track resolution and post-incident activities.

• Monitor services proactively and validate alert effectiveness.

• Recommend improvements to monitoring thresholds, detection quality, and observability capabilities.

• Identify monitoring gaps and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Support improvements to operational processes and monitoring architecture.

• Apply observability best practices by connecting technical performance indicators with business outcomes and customer experience.

• Coach and support NOC Operators through feedback, operational guidance, onboarding, and performance recommendations.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Master’s degree or engineering school qualification in Computer Science, Networks and Telecommunications, Information Systems, or a related field.

• 4–8 years of experience in NOC, L2 Support, or DevOps.

• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools.

• Demonstrated experience in incident ownership.

• Experience leading shifts in a high-availability environment.

• Advanced knowledge of Grafana dashboarding, alerting, and trend analysis.

• Strong knowledge of Prometheus, including metrics, PromQL, and alert troubleshooting.

• Advanced Kibana/ELK log analysis and event correlation skills.

• Proficiency in ServiceNow incident, problem, and change management.

• Ability to trace technical issues across end-to-end service flows.

• Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices monitoring.

• Familiarity with mobile money, USSD, APIs, and transaction flows.
