Communications Officer – Urban Youth Programming at World Vision

World Vision Tanzania is inviting applications from qualified communications professionals for the position of Communications Officer – Urban Youth Programming based in Dodoma. This full-time role will lead communications and advocacy activities for programmes focused on urban youth empowerment, health systems strengthening, and gender equality across Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing communication strategies, producing multimedia content, managing digital platforms, ensuring donor visibility, coordinating media engagement, and collaborating with partners to communicate the impact of World Vision’s urban youth programmes while maintaining compliance with donor branding requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Implement project communication and advocacy strategies in line with World Vision and donor requirements.

  • Develop communication plans for public campaigns, events, advocacy initiatives, and university outreach.

  • Coordinate messaging on urban youth empowerment, health systems strengthening, and gender equality.

  • Ensure communication strategies and campaign schedules are implemented on time.

  • Align communication activities with project technical milestones.

  • Increase youth and institutional engagement through targeted communication initiatives.

  • Produce human-interest stories, case studies, blogs, photo essays, and short videos.

  • Conduct field visits to project sites, health facilities, and university campuses.

  • Gather stories and testimonials from beneficiaries and project partners.

  • Maintain an organized digital content repository.

  • Manage project photography, videography, press releases, and publications.

  • Ensure safeguarding and ethical storytelling standards are followed.

  • Produce donor-ready content for websites, reports, and social media platforms.

  • Manage World Vision’s digital platforms, including X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and the official website.

  • Design digital campaign materials such as infographics, flyers, and social media graphics.

  • Monitor digital engagement metrics and campaign performance.

  • Optimize messaging for urban youth audiences.

  • Keep project web pages and social media channels updated.

  • Ensure compliance with Government of Canada (GAC) and AHADI branding requirements.

  • Develop donor visibility materials, including fact sheets and grant infographics.

  • Provide communications inputs for quarterly and annual project reports.

  • Organize media coverage for project launches and major milestones.

  • Prepare press releases, media kits, press invitations, and conference materials.

  • Build relationships with journalists, broadcasters, television, radio, print, and digital media outlets.

  • Coordinate professionally branded project events.

  • Collaborate with implementing partners, university student bodies, and community organizations.

  • Align communications with MenCare and Channels of Hope community mobilization frameworks.

  • Ensure authentic representation of community-level interventions.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Mass Communication, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or digital marketing.

  • Experience working in an NGO or international development environment.

  • Proven experience leading communications for large donor-funded programmes.

  • Experience with Government of Canada (GAC) or AHADI grant compliance.

  • Multimedia content creation skills, including photography, photojournalism, video editing, and storytelling.

  • Experience managing social media platforms.

  • Experience organizing public relations and advocacy campaigns.

  • Experience developing and maintaining local media networks.

  • Experience working with youth groups, universities, or urban community development programmes.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Illustrator, and Canva.

  • Strong understanding of donor visibility and branding requirements.

  • Knowledge of GAC grant compliance requirements.

  • Understanding of youth development, health systems strengthening, gender equality, and urban social programming in Tanzania.

  • Familiarity with MenCare and Channels of Hope (CoH).

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Strong teamwork, cultural sensitivity, and interpersonal skills.
