Data Center Technician at Globotech Company Limited

Globotech Company Limited is seeking a qualified and reliable professional for the position of Data Center Technician in Dar es Salaam. This opportunity is suitable for candidates with a technical diploma and practical experience in data centres, telecommunications sites, industrial facilities, or other mission-critical environments.

The successful candidate will support the continuous operation of critical infrastructure through real-time monitoring, rapid alarm response, first-level troubleshooting, and proper escalation of technical issues. The role requires discipline, reliability, strong reporting skills, and the ability to remain calm and structured when responding to incidents, including during night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor UPS systems, including load, bypass, and battery status.

• Monitor generators, including fuel levels, alarms, and operational status.

  

• Monitor Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).

• Monitor cooling systems, including CRAC, CRAH, and DX systems.

  

• Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and water leakage.

• Respond to alarms from monitoring systems such as Zabbix and AIVA.

  

• Conduct first-level troubleshooting of technical faults.

• Perform routine inspections of data centre infrastructure.

  

• Support preventive maintenance activities.

• Maintain accurate shift logs.

• Maintain incident records.

• Prepare detailed handover reports.

• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Follow safety requirements and compliance standards.

• Escalate technical issues to engineers and Network Operations Center (NOC) teams when required.

Qualifications Required

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics and Telecommunications, or a related field.

• 2–5 years of experience in data centres, telecommunications sites, or industrial facilities.

• Knowledge of UPS systems.

• Knowledge of diesel generators and fuel systems.

• Knowledge of Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).

• Knowledge of cooling systems.

• Ability to interpret system alarms and respond effectively.

• Strong discipline and reliability.

• Strong communication and reporting skills.

• Ability to work independently during night shifts.

• Ability to remain calm and structured when working under pressure.
