Job Description

The Site Manager – Stone Crushing Plant is a senior, hands-on operations role responsible for managing the daily activities of a stone crushing and screening plant in Msata. The position combines production management, equipment coordination, employee supervision, safety compliance, reporting, and community relations.

The successful candidate will be expected to keep the plant operating efficiently, meet aggregate production and quality targets, reduce downtime, and ensure that workers and equipment operate safely.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee daily crushing, screening, and aggregate production.

  • Ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.

  • Monitor jaw crushers, cone/impact crushers, vibrating screens, and conveyors.

  • Coordinate plant start-up, shutdown, and daily operating activities.

  • Plan preventive and corrective maintenance.

  • Coordinate mechanics, electricians, and operators during equipment breakdowns.

  • Control downtime and monitor fuel, lubricants, and spare-parts consumption.

  • Supervise approximately 20–30 employees.

  • Manage shifts, rosters, attendance, leave, and workplace discipline.

  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce PPE and HSSE requirements.

  • Monitor dust suppression, quarry slope stability, and heavy machinery operations.

  • Maintain compliance with mining, occupational health and safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Monitor aggregate stock levels and coordinate loading and dispatch.

  • Prepare daily production, downtime, and fuel/power reports.

  • Recommend measures to reduce costs and improve plant efficiency.

  • Handle routine community matters affecting the site.

  • Support regulatory inspections and maintain positive community relationships.

Qualifications and experience

The employer is looking for someone with:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Plant Operations, Industrial Management, or a related field.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in quarrying, mining, aggregates, or crushing plant operations.

  • Previous experience as a Site Manager, Quarry Manager, Plant Manager, or Crushing Plant Supervisor.

  • Practical knowledge of crushing and screening equipment.

  • Experience supervising workers and managing shifts and rosters.

  • Knowledge of equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements.

  • Fluency in both English and Swahili.

  • Experience working at a remote or live-in industrial site is an advantage.

Who is this job suitable for?

This position is particularly suitable for an experienced quarry, mining, aggregates, or crushing-plant supervisor/manager who has practical knowledge of plant machinery and can manage both people and production operations.

It is not primarily an office-based management position. The successful candidate will spend significant time at the plant, monitoring operations, responding to production or equipment problems, supervising workers, and ensuring safety and operational discipline.
