Journalist

Doris Mollel Foundation (DMF) is seeking experienced journalists or media agencies to support storytelling, documentation, and reporting activities in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will document the Foundation’s work through written stories, photography, and video while ensuring that field documentation is conducted ethically. This includes obtaining appropriate consent when working with vulnerable groups such as mothers and newborns and presenting complex health and development issues in an accessible and engaging way.

About the Role

The Journalist will lead storytelling and documentation assignments that communicate the impact and activities of DMF. The role requires strong reporting skills and the ability to transform technical health and program information into clear, accurate, and compelling stories for public audiences.

Candidates should have a proven record of published or broadcast work with reputable media outlets, alongside a strong portfolio covering written features, photography, and video. Experience with major international media organizations or leading Tanzanian media houses will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead storytelling, documentation, and reporting assignments.

• Cover health, development, and non-profit activities where required.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

• At least 4 years of professional journalism experience.

• A demonstrable body of work in storytelling, documentation, and reporting.

• Strong experience in written feature production.

• A strong portfolio covering photography and video.

• Strong narrative reporting skills.

• Strong investigative reporting abilities.

• Ability to translate complex health and programmatic work into compelling public-interest stories.

• Experience with ethical field documentation and obtaining consent.

• Experience working with vulnerable groups, including mothers and newborns, is relevant.

• A track record of published or broadcast work with reputable media outlets.

• Experience in the health, development, or non-profit sector is an advantage.

• Previous experience with major international media outlets is an advantage.
