Job Description

Unifi Tanzania is seeking a qualified and dependable BIT Officer to support its information technology and office infrastructure operations in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will provide first-line technical support, troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues, and ensure that employees have reliable IT equipment and access to the systems they need.

This position is suitable for an IT professional with a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, together with 2–3 years of relevant IT support experience. The role also involves IT asset management, user access administration, information security, and coordination of office facilities and service providers.

About the Role

The BIT Officer will report to the Infrastructure Team Lead and help maintain reliable IT infrastructure across Unifi Tanzania’s branches and offices. The position combines technical support with IT asset management and facilities coordination, requiring someone who can troubleshoot problems efficiently while maintaining accurate records and documentation.

The successful candidate will also support employee onboarding and offboarding, maintain computers and other office equipment, assist with network administration, coordinate repairs, and identify recurring technical problems that can be improved through better systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line IT support for hardware, software, systems, and connectivity issues.

  • Resolve daily technical problems and escalate complex issues when necessary.

  • Provide basic systems training to employees.

  • Manage and follow up on IT support tickets to ensure timely resolution.

  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding by preparing, configuring, and recovering IT equipment.

  • Configure and manage system access for employees.

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.

  • Keep IT devices secure and up to date through approved software, security, and system updates.

  • Support basic network, Wi-Fi, and user-access administration.

  • Escalate infrastructure issues to the appropriate technical teams.

  • Assist with hardware repairs, replacements, upgrades, and warranty processes.

  • Maintain accurate IT asset records and equipment assignments.

  • Coordinate day-to-day office facilities maintenance.

  • Respond to facilities-related requests.

  • Work with landlords, contractors, and service providers to maintain safe and functional offices.

  • Coordinate repairs, maintenance, and approved facilities purchases.

  • Monitor service providers and escalate significant facilities or health and safety concerns.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of IT assets, licences, service providers, and support activities.

  • Keep technical documentation and user guides current and accessible.

  • Identify recurring IT issues and recommend practical improvements.

  • Support improvements to IT systems, processes, and user services.

  • Travel across Unifi branches when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 2–3 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or technical support.

  • Experience supporting Windows devices.

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.

  • Experience supporting printers and other office IT equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot everyday network and connectivity problems.

  • Knowledge of IT asset management.

  • Understanding of user access administration.

  • Knowledge of information security best practices.

  • Experience with helpdesk or ticketing systems is an added advantage.

  • Experience with remote support tools such as Datto, N-able, or similar platforms is an added advantage.

  • Experience coordinating facilities or working with external service providers is an added advantage.

  • Clear communication skills in English.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining high standards.

  • Dependability and a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Willingness and ability to travel across branches when required.
