WaterAid Tanzania is inviting applications from experienced human resources professionals for the position of Head of People in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will lead the organisation’s People and Human Resources function and contribute to strategic decisions as a member of the Senior Management Team.
This is a senior-level HR leadership position that focuses on developing people strategies, strengthening organisational effectiveness, supporting workforce planning, and building a high-performance culture. The role will also provide strategic HR advice to the Country Director and senior leadership while overseeing the People Department.
About the Role
The Head of People will be responsible for ensuring that WaterAid Tanzania has effective people management strategies and systems to support its organisational objectives. The role combines strategic HR leadership with oversight of recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, compensation, organisational development, and succession planning.
The successful candidate will also help ensure compliance with employment and labour laws, safeguarding requirements, and organisational policies. Strong leadership, analytical, communication, influencing, and people-development skills are essential for this position.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Leading and implementing the People Strategy in line with WaterAid Tanzania’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:

A Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, Leadership and Capability Development, or a related field.

A recognised professional HR qualification.

Significant senior-level experience in human resources.

Experience leading a People or HR function.

Experience in an international development or NGO environment is desirable.
