Job Description

A.P. Moller - Maersk is seeking an organized and solution-oriented professional for the position of Project Coordinator A&R – EAA in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will support operational execution across Ocean and Logistics within Maersk Project Logistics (MPL), taking responsibility for shipments from initial file creation through to final closure.

This role is suitable for logistics and supply chain professionals with at least two years of relevant experience in logistics operations, freight forwarding, or project transport coordination. The position requires strong execution skills, customer focus, stakeholder management, and a good understanding of Tanzanian import, export, and transport regulations.

About the Role

The Project Coordinator will manage the complete shipment lifecycle and ensure that customer requirements are met throughout the transportation process. This includes coordinating shipment documentation, inland delivery, transport plans, operational system updates, and file closure.

The successful candidate will also act as a key contact for assigned customers, proactively monitor shipments, identify potential disruptions, and recommend practical contingency solutions. Compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) requirements will also be an important part of the role.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing customer shipments from file creation through final closure.

  • Creating and maintaining shipment files in operational systems.

  • Providing daily EDI updates.

  • Processing Sales Orders (SO) and Purchase Orders (PO).

  • Coordinating inland delivery activities.

  • Ensuring shipment files are accurately closed in operational systems.

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts.

  • Understanding customer supply chain priorities and urgent requirements.

  • Aligning shipment execution with customer expectations.

  • Providing proactive solutions to operational challenges.

  • Tracking shipments throughout the transportation process.

  • Informing customers promptly when transport plans change or deviations occur.

  • Recommending appropriate contingency solutions when disruptions arise.

  • Working with external suppliers and partners to prepare transport plans.

  • Ensuring Customer Service Instructions (CSI) are properly protected and followed.

  • Ensuring shipment execution complies with applicable regulations and QHSE standards.

  • Supporting operational efficiency and process standardisation.

  • Identifying opportunities for cost optimisation.

  • Troubleshooting operational issues and coordinating appropriate solutions.

  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in logistics operational execution, freight forwarding, or project transport coordination.

  • Sound understanding of Tanzanian import and export regulations.

  • Knowledge of local transport regulations.

  • Strong execution and delivery mindset.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
