Job Description

Watu Credit is seeking an experienced Network Administrator to oversee and maintain its network infrastructure, data centers and computing systems across the head office and branch network in Dar es Salaam. The position plays an important role in maintaining reliable network connectivity, system availability and information security across the organization.

The successful candidate will manage network hardware, firewalls, servers, WANs, VPNs and security systems while resolving escalated technical issues within agreed service levels. The role also involves monitoring network performance, maintaining technical documentation, evaluating IT service providers and mentoring junior IT personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy and maintain firewalls, switches, routers, server racks and network cabling.

  • Oversee localized data center operations.

  • Manage Wide Area Networks (WANs), cloud architectures and large VPN environments.

  • Provide technical administration for call center IT infrastructure.

  • Manage domain controllers and peripheral devices.

  • Monitor network performance using tools such as Grafana, Zabbix and Wireshark.

  • Maintain network availability and work toward achieving 99.9% uptime.

  • Manage endpoint protection across company devices.

  • Enforce network security protocols and standards.

  • Review firewall security analytics using systems such as Sophos and Fortinet.

  • Identify vulnerabilities and escalate critical security threats to the group security division.

  • Conduct periodic audits of system permissions and administrative access.

  • Monitor network throughput and identify potential performance issues.

  • Maintain accurate network architecture and configuration documentation.

  • Ensure documentation complies with corporate standards.

  • Resolve escalated network, server and system administration tickets within agreed SLAs.

  • Train, coach and mentor the IT Network Administrator Officer.

  • Evaluate external IT vendors and service providers.

  • Monitor vendor performance and service quality.

  • Support reliable and secure IT infrastructure across the company's head office and branch network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering or a related field.

  • Relevant professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, NSE or MTCNA.

  • Minimum of five years of professional IT experience.

  • At least five years of direct experience as a Network Engineer, Systems Engineer or Network Administrator.

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Ubiquiti and MikroTik networking equipment.

  • Proficiency in Sophos, Fortinet, VPN and Active Directory environments.

  • Practical experience with Linux Servers and Microsoft Windows Servers.

  • Experience working with Virtual Machine environments.

  • Practical experience using Grafana, Zabbix or Wireshark.

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Spiceworks, Jira or GitLab.

  • Strong network administration and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to manage network security and infrastructure across multiple locations.
