AzamPesa is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Human Resources to lead its people function in Tanzania. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership, ensuring that the company’s human resources strategy supports business growth, employee performance, talent development, and organizational objectives in a fast-paced fintech environment.
This senior HR position offers an opportunity for an experienced human resources professional to lead recruitment, employee engagement, performance management, compensation and benefits, learning and development, succession planning, and organizational culture initiatives. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with Tanzanian labour laws and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities

Formulate and implement a comprehensive people strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.

Develop and maintain effective HR systems and policies.

Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, employee retention, and offboarding processes.

Lead culture transformation and employee engagement initiatives.

Oversee talent acquisition and succession planning.

Develop and strengthen the company’s employer branding strategy.

Ensure compliance with Tanzanian labour laws and employment regulations.

Ensure compliance with applicable statutory HR requirements.

Design and manage competitive remuneration and benefits frameworks.

Develop reward strategies that support employee attraction and retention.

Champion company-wide learning and development programmes.

Review and improve employee performance management systems.

Use HR metrics and workforce insights to support data-driven decision-making.

Advise executive leadership on people-related matters and workforce strategy.

Support organizational change and promote an agile, high-performance workplace.

Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.

A Master’s degree such as an MBA, MSc in Human Resources, or Organizational Development is an added advantage.

Active membership or certification with a recognized Human Resources Management Association is an added advantage.

Minimum of 8 years of progressive HR experience.

At least 3–5 years of experience in a senior HR management or leadership position.

Proven experience in fast-paced sectors such as fintech, telecommunications, financial services, or banking in Tanzania.

Deep knowledge of Tanzanian labour laws and statutory requirements.

Strong understanding of HR regulatory compliance.

Ability to align people strategy with commercial and organizational goals.

Proven experience in culture and change management.

Strong ability to use HR metrics and insights for workforce planning and performance improvement.
