Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd is seeking a Production Team Leader to oversee manufacturing operations in Dar es Salaam. The role focuses on ensuring efficient production, maintaining operational and quality standards, supporting plant and equipment maintenance, and driving World Class Manufacturing (WCM) practices within the assigned shift.
The successful candidate will also lead and coach production team members, monitor Quality, Cost, Delivery and Safety Management (QCDSM) performance, resolve operational problems, and identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve production processes. This position is particularly suited to an engineering professional with technical and leadership experience in the FMCG manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities

Drive World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives within the assigned shift.

Communicate work practice deployment plans and secure team commitment.

Coach team members on work practice implementation and situational problem-solving.
-
Ensure employees comply with divisional operational, quality and process standards.

Conduct work practice maturity assessments and line walkabouts.
-
Benchmark best practices within the organization.
-
Ensure team members follow work instructions, maintenance schedules and performance targets.
-
Review and sign off shift performance covering Quality, Cost, Delivery and Safety Management (QCDSM).

Ensure required administrative activities supporting production are completed.
-
Monitor autonomous maintenance activities and running repairs.
-
Ensure process artisans perform required repairs and support maintenance activities.
-
Coach production employees on autonomous maintenance.
-
Ensure production lines are ready for maintenance and restart on schedule after maintenance.
-
Allocate team members to autonomous maintenance activities.
-
Initiate emergency work orders and provide input into their completion.
-
Support maintenance and cleaning days and participate in post-maintenance analysis.
-
Ensure team members understand and follow quality standards.
-
Verify routine quality checks and analysis are performed according to work instructions.

Conduct quality trend analysis to identify production and quality problems.
-
Ensure root-cause analysis is conducted to resolve quality issues.
-
Ensure quality information is accurately recorded manually or electronically.

Coach employees in problem-solving techniques such as 5 Why and One Point Lessons (OPLs).

Determine appropriate action when problems are escalated.

Involve specialist technical resources when required.

Verify that resolved problems have been permanently eliminated.

Ensure work instructions are updated following problem resolution.

Escalate unresolved problems to the Level 2 technical team.

Implement Short Interval Control (SIC) mechanisms to monitor and reduce waste.

Incorporate waste reduction and process improvement objectives into team goals.

Track and display improvement targets and progress.
-
Evaluate process improvement and waste reduction opportunities.
-
Coordinate with specialists where additional expertise is required.

Coach employees in the correct execution of operational and technical duties.

Monitor process inputs and outputs to achieve required production results.

Ensure quality checks are completed and properly recorded.

Identify training needs and support employee development through one-on-ones and performance reviews.
-
Drive effective performance management practices within the production team.
Qualifications and Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
-
Qualified artisan.
-
At least 3 years of technical and leadership experience in an FMCG environment.

Strong communication skills.
-
Good leadership and people-management abilities.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Demonstrated high level of integrity.
-
Experience with manufacturing, production processes, maintenance, quality control and continuous improvement is highly relevant to the role.
