Absa Bank Tanzania is seeking a skilled and commercially minded professional for the position of Markets Sales Dealer: Commercial, E-Channels & Derivatives in Dar es Salaam. The role sits within the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Markets Sales function and focuses on providing financial markets, risk management, and structured solutions to corporate and commercial clients.
The successful candidate will act as a link between clients, relationship managers, and the financial markets business. The position involves managing client relationships, promoting foreign exchange and investment products, supporting risk management solutions, meeting sales and profitability targets, and ensuring that all activities comply with the bank's risk management and regulatory requirements.
About the Role
The Markets Sales Dealer will manage a portfolio of customers and help them access appropriate Markets Risk Management Products (RMPs). These may include foreign exchange and other financial market solutions designed to help customers manage financial risks.
The role also involves working closely with Commercial Relationship Managers, customers, traders, and other areas of CIB Markets. The successful candidate should therefore combine financial markets knowledge with strong sales, relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Managing a portfolio of customers and offering Markets Risk Management Products.

Understanding customer financial and risk management needs.

Providing Markets product solutions to internal and external customers.

Promoting product and technology solutions, including Absa Access FX.

Supporting the sale of investment and risk management products.
-
Executing trades with customers when required.

Developing strong relationships with Commercial Relationship Managers and customers.

Expanding the penetration of CIB Markets products across customer segments.

Identifying opportunities to grow the Markets customer base.

Promoting Markets products among corporate and commercial customers.
-
Working towards delegated volume and profitability targets.
-
Ensuring compliance with Absa Group policies, procedures, and applicable credit limits.

Working with the Head of Markets Sales on the annual Markets strategic business plan.

Providing regular monthly performance updates.
-
Identifying personal knowledge and skills gaps and maintaining a professional development plan.

Managing risks and controls within the responsibilities of the role.
-
Understanding end-to-end processes and the risks associated with those processes.

Reporting risk events, incidents, and issues through the appropriate procedures.

Identifying opportunities to strengthen the control environment and prevent operational errors.

Maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Completing all mandatory training within the required deadlines.

Supporting a positive risk and control culture within the Markets business.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:

A degree to honours level.
-
A postgraduate qualification is preferred.

At least 2 years of banking experience.

At least 1 year of experience in a Global Markets environment.

Effective trading ability and a good track record.

Exposure to Global Markets Sales.

Basic-level ACI Dealing Certificate.

Sound understanding of balance sheet and income statement analysis.

Understanding of financial risk management strategies and tools.
-
Good knowledge of financial markets products, services, and strategies.

Good understanding of financial markets back-office operations.

General knowledge of banking products.
-
Knowledge of trade and structured trade finance, forfaiting, and merchant banking products is beneficial.

Strong business awareness.

Strong relationship management skills.

Effective marketing, negotiation, and influencing skills.
