Equity Bank Tanzania is inviting applications for the position of Treasury Sales Dealer within the Treasury Department. The role focuses on promoting, growing and cross-selling treasury products through the bank’s branches and business units while providing clients with suitable foreign exchange, hedging and investment solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with SME customers, lending teams, Transaction Banking and other internal stakeholders to grow treasury business, increase customer wallet share and contribute to revenue generation. The position also involves FX dealing, customer relationship management, market intelligence, compliance, risk management and staff mentoring.
Basic Purpose
The Treasury Sales Dealer will work with the bank’s branches and business units to promote, grow and cross-sell treasury products. The role is designed to provide clients with appropriate treasury solutions covering foreign exchange, hedging and investment requirements.
The position will also focus on increasing the bank’s share of wallet among customers and achieving business revenue targets assigned by management.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Treasury Sales Dealer will:

Develop a strong and loyal SME customer base by building relationships with key decision-makers.

Understand customer needs and grow business in line with established budgets.
-
Follow up with lending and Transaction Banking teams regarding clients’ foreign exchange requirements.

Market treasury products such as Spot, Forward and Swaps to customers.

Increase treasury business turnover and profitability.
-
Strengthen SME customer penetration in foreign exchange and other treasury products.
-
Maintain a high standard of customer service to increase market share and expand the customer base.

Monitor market developments, competitor strategies and market intelligence.

Conclude foreign exchange deals involving the sale or purchase of currencies through recorded telephone calls and email.

Prepare weekly reports covering client growth, transaction volumes and portfolio profitability.

Support the bank’s funding process by engaging customers interested in placing deposits.

Contribute to the growth of the bank’s liability customer base.

Grow the SME business franchise.

Monitor treasury products and marketing initiatives offered by competing banks.

Roll out and enhance electronic channels for treasury products.

Support migration of existing customers to the EazzyFX platform.

Act as a primary treasury contact for SME clients requiring treasury solutions.
Customer Service Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

Ensure customer queries are handled effectively and to the customer’s satisfaction.

Maintain professional service standards.

Protect and enhance the reputation of the bank through high-quality customer service.
Compliance and Risk Management
The Treasury Sales Dealer will be required to:

Ensure business controls are followed in accordance with bank, group and regulatory requirements.

Maintain full awareness of policies and procedures relating to money laundering prevention and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.

Understand and comply with policies covering operational risk, market risk, reputational risk and sales processes.

Read, understand and comply with the provisions of the ACI Code of Conduct.
Other Responsibilities
The position will also involve:

Training and mentoring other dealers and bank staff on foreign exchange, money market and fixed-income products.

Deputizing for the Manager – SME Sales when required.

Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor or the bank according to business needs.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:

A Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics or another related field.

An ACI Dealing Certificate.
-
A Master's degree will be an added advantage.

At least 4 years of relevant working experience.
Skills and Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate:

Understanding of policies, procedures and ethical requirements within a treasury environment.

Knowledge of interest-rate risk management, including structural and behavioural analysis.

Knowledge of liquidity and funding risk management.

Knowledge of capital risk management.

Understanding of financial markets and economic fundamentals.

Knowledge of treasury, retail, corporate and capital-market products.

Strong Excel skills.

Effective communication skills.

Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.

Ability to analyse market developments and identify business opportunities.
