NCBA Tanzania is inviting applications from qualified and experienced banking professionals for the position of Branch Manager in Zanzibar. This is a senior banking management opportunity for a results-driven professional with extensive experience in branch operations, credit management, business development, customer relationship management, and team leadership.
The Branch Manager will be responsible for the overall performance and day-to-day management of the branch and its agencies. The successful candidate will drive customer acquisition, deposits and business growth, credit performance, profitability, service quality, and regulatory compliance while maintaining strong operational and risk controls.
About the Role
The Branch Manager will develop and execute strategies that strengthen the branch's financial performance and market position. This includes identifying new business opportunities, growing relationships with existing customers, managing portfolio risks, and promoting the bank's products and services across different customer segments.
In addition, the position requires strong people-management capabilities. The Branch Manager will set performance objectives, coach and develop employees, manage branch resources, oversee operational controls, and ensure that the team consistently delivers excellent customer service while achieving agreed business targets.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategies for acquiring new customers.

Increase business volumes from existing customers.

Monitor branch performance and prepare regular performance reports.

Manage portfolio risks within the bank's approved risk appetite.

Drive cross-selling of Asset Finance, Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, Direct Sales, Bancassurance, and Securities products.

Manage borrowing and non-borrowing customer accounts.

Review products and services based on customer needs and market feedback.

Conduct market intelligence and identify new business opportunities.

Monitor regulatory and market developments affecting the branch.

Prepare and review the branch's annual strategy.

Identify and utilize the branch's geographic and market opportunities.

Ensure compliance with branch controls and security procedures.

Ensure effective implementation of business continuity plans.

Maintain compliance with KYC, AML, and operational risk requirements.

Ensure accurate and timely branch reporting.

Manage cheque referrals and collection of applicable fees.

Monitor and control branch operating costs.

Conduct supervisory checks and ensure audit exceptions are resolved promptly.

Fulfil branch custodian responsibilities.

Deliver excellent customer service while achieving business targets.

Ensure compliance with agreed turnaround times.

Handle customer complaints and feedback promptly and professionally.

Maintain a professional and customer-friendly branch environment.

Ensure ATMs, CDMs, and other banking channels remain operational.

Build customer loyalty through proactive customer engagement.

Guide branch employees on business objectives and market priorities.

Monitor local market trends and competitor activities.

Ensure compliance with merchandising and branding standards.

Brief employees on promotions and monitor sales performance.

Develop relationships with key customers and local influencers.

Support product specialists in marketing banking solutions to local businesses.

Represent NCBA at marketing, CSR, and community events.

Build and maintain a high-performing and motivated branch team.

Set employee performance objectives and conduct performance appraisals.

Provide regular coaching, feedback, and training.

Plan branch staffing requirements and succession arrangements.

Manage employee leave, performance, disciplinary, and grievance matters.

Ensure staff complete mandatory learning and e-learning programmes.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.

Minimum Upper Second Class or GPA of 3.0.

Master's degree is an added advantage.

AKIB qualification.

CPA (K) qualification.

CSAPs qualification.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Proficiency in banking systems.

At least 8 years of banking experience.

Strong experience in branch operations.

At least 4 years of experience in management-level roles.

At least 2 years of branch operations experience.
