Absa Bank Tanzania

Markets Sales Dealer: Commercial, E-Channels and Derivatives

Absa Bank Tanzania
Dar Es Salaam Full-time Negotiable Banking Apply before Aug 19, 2026

Job Description

This is a specialized banking role in Global Markets, focused mainly on selling foreign exchange, derivatives, risk-management products, and other treasury solutions to corporate and commercial clients.

What the job really involves

You would act as a bridge between corporate/commercial banking customers and the bank’s Markets business. Your job is not simply to sell ordinary banking products. You would help businesses manage financial risks such as foreign-exchange exposure, interest-rate movements, and other market risks.

A major part of the role is managing a portfolio of customers, understanding their financial needs, and recommending appropriate Markets products. You may also trade directly with customers and provide pricing or market solutions.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of customers requiring Markets risk-management products.

  • Sell products such as FX, investment and risk-management solutions.

  • Support and promote Absa Access FX and other technology-enabled Markets products.

  • Trade directly with customers when required.

  • Build strong relationships with Commercial Relationship Managers and corporate customers.

  • Expand Markets business into Corporate and Retail/Business Banking customer segments.

  • Meet delegated sales-volume and profitability targets.

  • Ensure all transactions comply with Absa policies, procedures, credit limits, and risk controls.

  • Help develop the annual Markets Sales strategy and provide monthly performance updates.

  • Identify knowledge gaps and maintain a personal professional-development plan.

  • Manage operational, regulatory, and financial risks associated with Markets activities.

  • Report risk incidents and contribute to improving internal controls.

  • Maintain professional relationships with customers through meetings, presentations, visits, and other engagement activities.

Key qualifications

The employer is looking for someone with:

  • A degree up to Honours level.

  • A postgraduate qualification is an advantage.

  • At least 2 years of banking experience, including 1 year in a Global Markets environment.

  • Basic ACI Dealing Certificate qualification.

  • Demonstrated trading ability and a good track record.

  • Knowledge of financial markets products and services.

  • Understanding of financial risk-management strategies and tools.

  • Ability to analyze balance sheets and income statements.

  • Knowledge of trade and structured trade finance, forfaiting, and merchant banking products.

  • Strong relationship-management, marketing, negotiation, and influencing skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a dealing-room environment.

  • Strong ethical standards and professional judgment.

Who is this role suitable for?

This position is mainly suited to an experienced banking professional already working in Treasury, Global Markets, Markets Sales, FX dealing, or a closely related area.

It is not really an entry-level banking position. The most important differentiator is the requirement for experience in a Global Markets environment, rather than simply having general banking or finance experience.

Skills that would make a candidate competitive

The strongest candidate would demonstrate experience in:

FX dealing → Markets sales → Derivatives → Treasury products → Risk management → Corporate banking relationships → Financial markets → Customer acquisition → Negotiation → Trading

The ability to combine technical financial-markets knowledge with sales and relationship-management skills is particularly important.

Application

Applications should be submitted through the Absa Careers portal using the vacancy link provided in the job advert.

Deadline: 19 August 2026

Bottom line: This is a mid-level Global Markets/Markets Sales position for someone who can understand sophisticated financial products, communicate them to corporate clients, generate Markets revenue, and manage the associated trading and risk requirements.
