Exim Bank Tanzania is seeking an Assistant Manager – Supply Chain to support the growth and implementation of Supply Chain Finance (SCF) solutions. The position is based in Dar es Salaam and focuses on helping the Bank finance businesses connected through supply chains, including suppliers, distributors, and large corporate “anchor” companies.
The role combines corporate banking, trade finance, credit analysis, relationship management, and supply chain operations. The successful candidate will help identify financing opportunities, structure SCF programs, onboard customers, monitor portfolio performance, and coordinate different teams to ensure financing solutions are delivered efficiently.
Responsibilities

Support the identification and onboarding of major corporate anchor companies with established supply chains.

Assist in developing Supply Chain Finance programs for suppliers and distributors.

Support financing solutions such as supplier financing, distributor financing, invoice discounting, purchase order financing, and receivables/payables financing.

Analyse corporate value chains to identify potential financing opportunities.

Support the acquisition and onboarding of new suppliers and distributors.

Help prepare SCF policies covering eligibility, financing limits, pricing, tenor, documentation, settlement, and risk mitigation.

Coordinate activities between Relationship Managers, Credit, Operations, IT, anchor companies, suppliers, and distributors.

Support the digitization of trade and invoice processes.

Assist with customer onboarding onto Supply Chain Finance platforms.

Prepare and support credit proposals for anchor companies and SCF programs.

Ensure transactions comply with the Bank’s internal credit policies.

Help develop supplier and distributor scorecards using financial, transactional, and customer-behaviour data.

Monitor portfolio performance, including overdue accounts, Days Past Due (DPD), and concentration risks.

Identify and escalate early warning indicators.

Support regular portfolio reviews.

Maintain strong relationships with anchor companies, particularly procurement and finance departments.

Coordinate with Legal teams on agreements and related documentation.

Support supplier and distributor onboarding through training and documentation.

Provide SCF product guidance to internal teams.

Participate in industry events and supply-chain and trade-finance initiatives.

Support relationships with fintech and other ecosystem partners.

Contribute to improvements in SCF processes, turnaround times, and customer experience.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

MBA, ACCA, CFA, or another relevant professional qualification is an added advantage.

3–5 years of relevant experience in Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking, Trade Finance, or Supply Chain Finance.

Working knowledge of credit analysis.

Working knowledge of trade-finance documentation.

Understanding of working-capital financing products.

Ability to identify and onboard corporate anchor companies.

Ability to structure anchor-led Supply Chain Finance programs.

Ability to conduct value-chain analysis.

Ability to support supplier and distributor acquisition.

Ability to prepare SCF program policies and credit proposals.

Knowledge of portfolio monitoring, including DPD, overdue accounts, and concentration risks.

Strong stakeholder and relationship-management skills.

Ability to coordinate effectively with Legal, Credit, Operations, IT, and corporate clients.

Ability to support customer onboarding, training, and product awareness.

Strong understanding of SCF products and processes.

Ability to work with fintech and ecosystem partners.

Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
Who Is This Job Best Suited For?
This is a mid-level banking position and is particularly suitable for candidates who already have several years of experience in corporate banking, transaction banking, trade finance, or supply chain finance.
A candidate with only a general finance or business degree but without the required 3–5 years of relevant banking experience would likely not be a strong match. Experience with credit analysis, working-capital products, trade documentation, portfolio monitoring, and corporate-client relationships would significantly strengthen an application.
