Job Description

Exim Bank (Tanzania) Limited is seeking a Manager – Syndications & Debt Advisory to lead the origination, structuring, and execution of syndicated financing transactions. The role sits within the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) strategy and involves working with corporate clients, relationship managers, credit teams, legal advisers, Treasury, and participating financial institutions.

The successful candidate will manage transactions from initial origination and structuring through lender distribution, documentation, financial close, and post-closing portfolio management. This is a senior banking position requiring substantial experience in loan syndications, structured finance, project finance, or corporate banking, together with strong financial modelling, negotiation, and stakeholder-management capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support origination teams in identifying transactions suitable for syndicated financing.

  • Structure financing solutions that meet client requirements while remaining within the bank’s risk appetite.

  • Advise Relationship Managers and Credit teams on appropriate syndication strategies.

  • Participate in mandate negotiations and appointments as Lead Arranger, Mandated Lead Arranger, Bookrunner, or Facility Agent.

  • Develop syndication strategies, including bank hold levels and sell-down targets.

  • Prepare Information Memorandums, teaser materials, and lender presentations.

  • Coordinate lender invitations, roadshows, and bank meetings.

  • Manage the book-building and allocation of lender commitments.

  • Negotiate commercial terms with participating banks.

  • Maintain relationships with local, regional, and international banks.

  • Develop relationships with Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and institutional lenders.

  • Market syndicated financing opportunities to potential participating institutions.

  • Monitor market liquidity, pricing trends, and lender appetite.

  • Execute successful sell-downs to support the bank’s capital optimization objectives.

  • Work with Legal, Credit, and Compliance teams on financing documentation.

  • Coordinate transaction signing and financial close.

  • Ensure syndication terms remain consistent with approved credit structures.

  • Support the appointment and transition to Facility or Agent Bank roles where applicable.

  • Monitor the bank’s retained exposure against approved hold levels.

  • Execute secondary sell-downs when required.

  • Support portfolio diversification and lending-limit management.

  • Provide market intelligence on syndicated-loan performance.

  • Coordinate communication between Relationship Management, Credit & Risk, Legal, Treasury, and participating banks.

  • Maintain effective communication throughout the entire transaction lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in:

    • Loan Syndications

    • Structured Finance

    • Project Finance

    • Corporate Banking

  • Strong understanding of credit analysis.

  • Strong knowledge of loan documentation.

  • Experience in financial modelling.

  • Experience in financial product development.

  • Ability to manage complex financial transactions.

  • Strong stakeholder-management skills.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Professional certifications such as CFA, ACCA, or MBA are advantageous.

  • Ability to work effectively with banks, institutional lenders, DFIs, and internal banking functions.

  • Strong commercial and analytical judgment.
