TPC Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanic L1 to join its operations in Kilimanjaro. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring that machinery remains reliable, safe, and available for operations.

The position is suitable for experienced mechanical professionals with at least five years of experience working on heavy-duty equipment. Candidates should have strong diagnostic and repair skills, particularly in engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.

• Perform preventive maintenance according to established maintenance schedules.

  

• Diagnose mechanical faults affecting heavy-duty equipment.

• Carry out corrective repairs to restore faulty equipment to service.

• Inspect engines and identify mechanical problems.

• Inspect transmission systems and identify faults or worn components.

• Inspect hydraulic systems and associated components.

• Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.

• Test repaired equipment to confirm proper operation.

• Ensure equipment is returned to service in a safe and reliable condition.

• Record all maintenance activities accurately in the maintenance system.

• Document repairs, parts replaced, and other relevant maintenance information.

• Report significant mechanical defects to the appropriate supervisor.

• Follow workshop maintenance procedures and technical instructions.

• Comply with all workshop health and safety requirements.

• Use the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing maintenance and repair work.

• Maintain a clean and organized workshop and work area.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Government Trade Test Certificate Grade I/II or FTC in Motor Vehicle or Heavy-Duty Mechanics.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining heavy-duty equipment.

• Practical experience repairing heavy-duty vehicles and machinery.

• Strong ability to diagnose mechanical faults.

• Ability to repair mechanical faults on heavy-duty equipment.

• Knowledge of engine maintenance and repair.

• Knowledge of transmission systems.

• Knowledge of hydraulic systems.

• Ability to inspect and replace worn or defective components.

• Understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.

• Ability to accurately record maintenance and repair activities.

• Strong attention to safety and technical accuracy.

• Ability to work effectively in a workshop and maintenance environment.
