Fitter Mechanic Job at TPC Ltd

TPC Ltd is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Fitter Mechanic in Kilimanjaro. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing pipelines, valves, fittings, and related mechanical systems at the company’s sugar production site.

The position is suitable for technically trained candidates with practical experience in plumbing, pipe fitting, and pipeline maintenance. Applicants should be able to interpret technical drawings, identify faults in piping systems, perform repairs accurately, and follow established plant safety and permit-to-work procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install pipelines, valves, and pipe fittings across the plant.

• Carry out maintenance and repair of existing pipeline systems.

  

• Inspect piping systems to identify leaks and mechanical faults.

• Diagnose problems affecting pipelines, valves, and fittings.

• Repair damaged or defective piping components.

• Read and interpret technical drawings for pipe fitting work.

• Perform pipe fitting activities according to technical specifications.

• Ensure pipeline installations meet required standards and specifications.

• Carry out preventive maintenance on assigned mechanical equipment.

• Complete scheduled maintenance activities within the required timelines.

• Inspect mechanical and piping equipment for potential faults.

• Report significant equipment problems to the appropriate supervisor.

• Follow plant safety procedures during installation and maintenance activities.

• Comply with permit-to-work requirements.

• Maintain safe and organized working areas.

• Work effectively with other maintenance and production teams.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Certificate Level III in Plumbing & Pipe Fitting or an equivalent qualification recognized by NACTVET.

• 2–3 years of experience in pipeline installation and maintenance.

• Practical experience working with pipelines, valves, and pipe fittings.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

• Ability to perform pipe fitting work according to specifications.

• Basic understanding of mechanical maintenance procedures.

• Ability to diagnose leaks and mechanical faults in piping systems.

• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.

• Ability to follow plant safety procedures.

• Understanding of permit-to-work systems.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team.
